Interesting it's been stored for a few years and has the rear screen as well.. Wonder how much work would really be needed to make it mot passable again as my iwn experience of stored vehicles would worry me about all sorts of rot on it!!!

Dam I never saw that gumtree advert!

At £200 it would have been worth it as a head gasket replacement is about £300+parts isn't it?!

Head gasket on a 2.5 can vary between £60 and £600 in parts alone, depends if you need a gasket or a new head.
My experience is that only 1 in 3 get away with the gasket.
I looked at the car some 18 months ago and decided not to take it even as a spares car.
I thought this particular car would need new head and rads plus some cill repairs to get it to MOT state.
The mileage I noted suggested the clutch would need to be done within 50k.
Took a large water can full of coolant before I would risk starting it.
The need for that fill up plus the brown rust lining to the header tank were the reasons I though the rads were past best.
I agree that it was probably worth at least its scrap value as spares but in the main they were not spares that I needed.
