Fuel Gauge problem

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Fuel Gauge problem

Post by Narinder » Fri May 30, 2014 1:41 am

Hi Guys

Hope your all well. Enjoyed the Northern Rally (my first time) and looking forward to attending future meetings.

Have any of you had intermittent problems with the fuel gauge? Mine isnt stuck but occasionally drops to zero for part of the journey and then moves up again. A real pain as I am measuring my fuel by milage to ensure I have enough in.

Its back in for MOT at the moment and was hoping I could best prepare the mechanic with some hints and tips before he goes poking around.

PS. Will let you know how the MOT goes....

Thanks
Narinder

Could be the sender in the tank or a poor connection on it, if it had been a Mk2 I would have suggested dry joints on the instrument panel.

Mine does exactly the same, currently it thinks it's empty. I am sure it is to do with the sender unit, even the float maybe getting stuck.
