Leather seats...
I have found some leather seats at a reasonable price and not too far away, the only
downside is that they are from a mark one.
It is my understanding that the doorcards are not interchangeable, is this correct?
If not is it possible to alter the current ones/ mix/match?
If not does anyone have any mk 2 leathers for sale?
Cheers
Dave

The door cards will fit, its just that the front door cards will look out of place when you see the different dash shapes. Some of the guys on here have modified the door cards and will be along shortly.
For the front seats, you will also have to swop over the bases, as the series 1 doesn't have the seatbelt pretensioners, and the plug is different too. Its not too difficult to do, just make sure you have a power supply to move the seats back and forth on teh runners to expose all the screws.

Hi Dave
As explained by Robert the swap is fairly easy. You may find some of the seat base torx bolts a bit hard to get undone otherwise just tedious. They wiring you have to change and the explosive seat belt pretensioners are already fitted to that base frame so nothing to rewire. If the bottom section of the seat rear cover panels is early Mk1 it may not be quite wide enough to fit between the seat base side trims. Plastic cover trims were use screwed to the seat frame on the early seats but later Mk1 and Mk2 bases have nothing for the covers to screw to. If you do not have any spare bits then start with the passenger seat to learn on and leave you with a working car that is still driveable if things go wrong. I can probably find you a couple of spare Mk2 seat bases so you can complete your new seats out of the car but getting them to you might be a problem until nearer chrismas.
Mk2 door cards are a bit more work to convert from cloth to leather depending on if they are to be just plain leather or plastic wood effect top trim. This is not a choice. If your Mk1 front door cards have simulated wood these strips are too long for the Mk2 panels and need cutting down but must be used as the leather will not have enough spare to cover the gap. The Mk1 rear door cards will fit without modification and will not look out of place. You might like to swap the lock buttons and surround as Mk1 & Mk2 are noticably different and front and rear lock buttons are close together when the doors are closed. The final items are of course the headlining, the carpet on the floor and the central console side trims. These should be changed to black ones. Side trims are very easy, headlining so so but the carpet is a real pain and very few people bother.
Edit note: Just seen Deans point on estate rear seats. It is just the rear seat back that is wider and the side bolsters thinner. Estate seat back locking positions are about 50 mm further apart.

Re: Leather seats...
Thanks, for the info.
The car i am considering is an L reg, so lateish mk1 i guess.
I have done two interior changes on xantias so hopefully wont be too challenging (famous last words)
I am just awaiting pictures, i hadnt even thought about carpet or headlining, i have a feeling that my carpet is black already
The sad and horrific news is that the guy selling them is an evil Puggeriser, ripping the engine out to go into a 205
I told him he was an evil person but he did not seem bothered.

Hi Dave
Giving money to support puggerising just to own a bit of XM trim is a very slippery slope.
I forgot to mention the grab handles, perhaps coat hooks and roof light if yours are grey and you decide to change the headlining.
Then there is the leather top to the central arm rest and the gubbins to adjust its height.

Re: Leather seats...
Fortunately Dave's car has the black, Exclusive interior so just the seats and doorcards need swapping.

I agree, however at least some of it will be saved!Giving money to support puggerising just to own a bit of XM trim is a very slippery slope.
This guy literally just wants the engine, and by the sounds of it the xm is fine as he has been using it!

Glad i dont have to do the headlining and carpet- although it may get rid of the pervading smell of dog which keeps coming back...

The carpet may well put up a bit of a fight around the front tunnel -- be prepared to make a cut as close into the heater box and as far forward as you can, then pull out the tongue of carpet that is left behind the heater. A cut here is of no real consequence (I think), as the tunnel side trim panel will cover the area fully.
Mike.
