Mk 1, 2.1 auto - in case you have'nt seen it.

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Detail is important with this.
Legal Tax status of a car is no longer the disc on the car.
It is now the DVLA computer record.
If you still display a tax disc it has no legal standing and no more will be issued.
If a car is sold any residual tax becomes invalid at time of sale.
The new owner must buy new tax before driving the vehicle on the road.
There is now a 24 hour automated telephone service available to do this.
The tax MUST be obtained using the information from the new keepers section of the V5.
Do NOT use any renewal forms information or codes.
Nothing to stop the seller doing this for the buyer, the automated system does not know or care who pays.
Note there is NO insurance check on this transaction.
BEWARE any tax status change of the vehicle such as to or from free Disabled.
Changes of tax status can only be done at a participating Post Office.
When the DVLA get the V5 with new keepers details they send any tax refund to the registered keeper on the old V5.
Lots of upset motor traders who have bought in cars and given residual tax as part of trade in.
Traders must register as owners to get the tax refund.
Traders are also being reminded about not using of trade plates to avoid tax.
Garage specific activities only no commuting or personal use permitted on trade plates.
