Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

I was fairly sure that L reg cars still usex the older R12 ..

If ALL engine under bonnet parts are swapped from an S2 car there is no need to swap the unit inside the car just the under bonnet stuff..

If your told you cant refill an R12 system then pay a proper specialist a visit. Halfords wont do them.. but an indepandant expert will sort you out..

So there is a R12 substitute then? Is it safe.

replacement refrigerant known as RS24, this allows you to keep your original parts but use the modern equivalent of the refrigerant.

Conversion to R134a should not be too problematic for an XM, as there is typically plenty of spare cooling capacity. Having converted a couple of classic R12 systems, the only real problem I have had is if the hoses are too porous for R134a (in which case the hoses need to be remade with new flexible sections).

The problem I did have with using an R12 replacement was that after a few years, I could not source the same replacement for a refill.

Definitely looks like a new condenser and RS-24 is the way to go on my Mk 1.5. Researching this even though it sounds too good to be true, there is a write up here explaining why the myth of the R134 retrofit is commonplace but apparently unnecessary.

I have the 1.5 nozzles too. However I assume given these guys have the RS-24 they have the equipment to regas with R12 style fittings.

For those around the M25 I found these too.
