Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Hope you got a post 2000 Phase 2. The phase one uses a renault unit as used in the 440 that only puts out about 90bhp and is agricultural at best. The Phase 2 cars use a Renault unit rebuilt to Volvo standards that'll give either 102bhp or 115bhp dependent on the ecu mapping. The Phase 2 cars also received a revised chassis which made a considerable difference to the feel and comfort.

Well phase one is mitsubishi based and as neil said used renaults 1840td engine from the 19

Phase two to 2012 is even worse.. its ford focus chassis based!!

So not sure which id go for.. I think V60 if I had to.

the power gain from 2000 was the introduction of DI to the renault engine..

then the phase two then got the well known 1.6 hdi engine.. which dont fail in volvos ! Seriously they dont. Or the 2.0 16v hdi too at 138bhp.

I had a 2010 C30 with the 2.0 diesel and DSG automatic. It was a great car even with its Ford under pinnings! It averaged 42mpg.

The biggest issue was reliability. In a year it needed a new door sensor, new rear brake caliper and a new air conditioning heat exchanger! All of this covered by Volvo warranty thenkfully.

I haven't got one yet, but it will be a 2003 ish type model, 1.9d
I'm not bothered wether it's 115bhp model or not as it's the fuel economy is the main factor over power.
I'll be buying on spec over anything else, looking for heated seats, cruise control, leather if possible too and hopefully a nice colour, depends what is on offer at my budget

Something like this

I had to google this car model cause I am hopeless remembering Volvo models by the V numbers.

I wouldn't swap my XM for it but it's a nice car.

I really like the V40 because they are comfortable and suit my larger, taller frame.
The leather interior in the older V40 is great.

Enjoy. I am envious!

Yes something like that ;)

If I can sort out any kind of loan to raise the cash to buy one then I'll contact the interested party I had on the xm and if no dice then I'll stick it on ebay and it will go for what it goes for.

If I cant sort out a loan then I'll take less for the xm and someone will get a bargain ;)
