The stop came off with the mk.2 front and stayed intact...
I noticed this stop point but assumed the needle would rest at zero like the mk.1 does..

Hi John,xmexclusive wrote:Hi Russ
The original XM dash display was proposed as HUD.
Just as well they went conventional for the production run as the electronics from that time proved less than reliable.
It also rapidly became non standard and difficult to replace or repair.
What state is your old car in?
Where is it?
If I need a look at a Mk1 engine bay and dash would it be suitable.
John
Sorry I have missed the progress on this. I will catch up it's interesting.
I wish the XM did have an HUD, that would have been brilliant! After driving a few C6's with this, it's just such a useful feature.
My old car is a cube. But I got the dash and clocks ect all out.... Of course all in bits I'm afraid. Can't really offer anymore than what Paul has done. Sorry.

Of course, very happy to help if I still had it. ...this topic has grown considerably... I might be able to get hold of a mk2 dash next week, so if your and Paul's efforts work, it could be worth converting mine in the future. I'm fed up of the wobbly speedo needle!

Heresy!!!!!! a wobbly speedo is all part of the rustic charm, like rust in an old BL product, woodworm and rising damp in an old house, the holes in your favourite socks etc etc.
Keep us posted on progress though, looks interesting.

I suppose your right Dean, but I have no idea what speed I'm going until it hits 30!
well that is the speed limit so that's okay really!
