Online searches revealed prices as high as 200euro with a low of 44euro, all plus delivery, so £19.38 delivered to my local Peugeot dealer Next Day, seemed reasonable.
200 euro? Who'd dare ask that much? 19.38 quid seems very reasonable indeed. I suppose a knob for the automatic transmission will cost a lot more. I just repaired the AT knob of mine with instant glue. Worked very well; you can hardly see the cracks.

Not sure if it's any help, but google 'Alexander wooden gear knob' for lots of available XM-type knobs.
Citroen or gear-gate inset for the top is easy.
