That 2.1 is back on again

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

On a K that's not likely though. Most if not all numberplate suppliers have big lairy ugly names
and postcodes now as a legal requirement by VOSA for traceability of fraudulent plates.

You starting to muscle in on us s1 boys now you've bought all the s2's Peter?

Guess if you're aiming to buy this one if the seller agrees to finish early we'll have to go swapsies
with my green 95 manual s2 estate!

Andrew
No I'm not going to make an offer, I want it as cheap as I can get it :D If it goes much over £200 I shall lose interest, green S2 estate a possibility. :D

My head is scrambled at the moment Peter and I've no idea what I'm doing and any expenditure
I make has to be weighed up like a chess move. I just want a working legal towcar that's capable
of towing my car transporter trailer and the cars most likely candidates start throwing a strop
whenever I seem to make a plan!! The green s2 estate is still a nice car despite it's bumper being
swiped off and there is no other damage so I may bite the bullet and fit the new clutch waiting
for it but warmer weather would be nice!!!

I would expect this red one to go for the kind of money George's one fetched the other day so we
may both be priced out the bidding. Not before time Xm's started to fetch some money rather than
being scrapped. If you see it tomorrow I'd be very interested in your appraisal of it and the kind of
money being expected if you don't sweet talk him!

That's fair enough Andrew, if someone really wants it I'm not going to stand in their way, I just don't want it to be scrapped. I am still not really keen on Mk1s, I do like the interior though and the aircon and wheels. I am put off by the mileage though, in my experience head gasket time. I only paid £150 and £250 respectivly for my last two Mk2s, the hatch is in very nice condition but needed a clutch, the estate was on the road and legal - but that was then, this is now. ;)

Its not very easy to get to the pipes to bypass the matrix, I wonder if in the event of my buying it, I could clamp the hoses with a couple of pairs of mole grips.

Peter, Once the pipes are unscrewed off the matrix, they WILL push forwards out the bulkhead to clear the matrix! Try it, they push away. You can then put a LOOP pipe inside the car.. thats the cooling system looped!

Wouldn't it be easier and far more productive to spend 1/2 an hour fitting a new matrix
AND BE DONE WITH THE HASSLES OR REVISITING THE SAME JOB!!??? :( :!:

Well , I went and looked at it but on the way pranged my car :x about 100 yards from the house in Bridgwater :x entirely my fault, I turned round in a car park on an empty road, but when I emerged it wasn't empty and a collided with the only moving car in the road, goodness knows what its going to do to my insurance what with Christine writing the other one of last year, only my second claim in over 40 years, and the other one was only a mirror. So I am looking for a black o/s wing, bumper and front grill.

Anyway the car. Looks very nice, no rust that I can see, nice metalic red paint but lacquer peeling in one or two places, not bad though, very few marks on the body. I didn't drive it on account of no water and me being a bit preoccupied but I started the engine and it did the usual tappet rattle and then quietened down nicely. Interior looks nice, perhaps not quite as nice as the Poole one, but nice. I don't know if I will be bidding as I have another car to refurbish now! If no one else bids I might buy it
