GET THIS GEOFF!!!

Seriously!! GET IT!!

My V6 is IDENTICAL to this but a V6 with LPG...

S1.5's suspension useually ALWAYS work, the left hand displays ALWAYS work and do not pack up... You get a better dash too...

This 2.1 will have an Alloy inlet maifold and Bosch Pump.. rather then the later Lucas Electronic Epic... being the Bosch much Simpler and less likely to stop...

DON'T do this to me Paul! I was in a complete arse of a pickle last night and I had to concede to Jonathon that it's just.......just the wrong timing (maybe that's an excuse!!)

To be fair, Johnathon has a buyer ligned up (from Cardiff - but sadly not me) for tomorrow. If I had the readies, I'd of gone for it by now. That's not say I couldn't borrow it, but it's not ideal. At £450 for a quality SED from a known member (and I've met JD before from a BX engine vs beer exchange!!!! :D ( and I'd trust JD to the hilt)) it's a bargain and a highly tempting acquisition.

I sniffed a lot yesterday and eventually said no as I couldn't promise the cash or time line and I'd rather JD got what he wanted than me mess him about.

Good luck JD and don't let him knock you down dude!!!!

Hi all,

Been lurking on here for a while, and thought I'd break cover.

I ventured north from Cardiff to buy this, and have had it as the daily drive for a couple of weeks. Was driving a mk3 Lexus LS400 on LPG previously, but at 24p/mile; it was becoming too juicy. LPG has doubled in price in the last 4 to 5 years :-(

Anyways; I digress....

Initial thoughts/discoveries...

1) I need to resolve the internal shower. I don't believe it's the radio antenna. I've got the vanity light unit off, and the water descends as a fast trickle, in fits and starts, but only when driving. It is collecting under the sunroof motor, and dripping/pouring from there. I'll check the sun-roof drains; make sure they're not blocked

2) Cambelt and Water-pump needs doing

3) Wishbone bushes need replacing. I'll pick them up from Citroen, and see if I can find somewhere that has a press

4) Suspension needs fixing. Zaphod has suggested replacing the MOSFETs, and fitting new Diodes inside the suspension ECU. Either that; or one or more spheres needs replacing

5) Needs a tranny dipstick. Only has a bung at the moment

6) Vehicle diagnostics seem possessed. Had "High Water Temperature" two nights ago, although expansion tank was fairly full, and the heater was blowing hot air. Temperature Guage was showing 70 degrees. Have had warnings about stop lamps, and side lights as well. All very intermittent. Also; Engine-Oil-level guage tells porkies. Registers quite high when turning the ignition on, but there was hardly anything on the stick. That said; Oil-pressure lamp only comes on when engine off.

7) Improve cold starting - Glo-plugs or associated relay

Few other very minor niggles to sort; like getting the remote unlocking working, and fixing the glove-box lid on top of the dash.

On the whole; quite pleased with the car. But its apparent ability to lie is a little bit worrying

One final thing; how do I go about getting a workshop manual on CD ? I've bought a Haynes manual; but there is a lot of stuff it doesn't cover.

TIA

...just to add; the nut that secures the radio antenna seems bone dry. If it isn't the sunroof drains; I'm at a loss.

A few days back; I poured 2 litres of water around the front edge of the sunroof, and the antena; and nothing dripped :-(

I've a feeling I'm going to have to drop the headlining :-(

One place in can come in is the botls that hold the sunroof motor in, guess how I know...
However i have not been able to fix this despite using silicon th plug them!

I now rent a garage, and this seems to be the most effective solution provided you dont drive in the rain.

Hi jeas

The sun roof plastic drain tubes have a habit of coming adrift from the outlet.
If so the water usually runs down the inside of the A pillar trim and you get a wet headlining and carpet.
Fairly easy to release the corners of the headlining to check.

This is a Series 1.5 car... I DOUBT very much you will need to do the Mosfets in the ECU, S1.5's rarely blow them, but Im not saying they Dont!

Had johnathan put spheres on recently, including the centres?? It may be just a case if needing them. The ECU Mod with Mosfets is useually a Series 2 thing to do, NOT a Series 1...

I get a shower from my S1's too, and cannot source the problem... annoying really, as it pours onto the electric switch's.

The High Water Temp light is the BROWN sensor on the Water Outlet house on the front of the Head... This puts that light on and sets the Fans on Full speed...

Unplug the side light plugs from the bulb holders and clean the contacts up, its useually just corrosion preventing the tiny check voltage, of around 2v passing through, enough for element check but not to light the bulb..

Cam beltand waterpumps not a bad job at all, it all locks in place like the smaller 1.9 XUD in the xantias...

you mention a dipstick problem - could the level gauge be correct and the dipstick not???

If its a Bosch engine'd car, which I think it is, then the pump may well need a slight advance on the Static position setting on the back plate, to help the cold start... This again, something thats common with the Bosch.. The same happens with the Xantias with Bosch.

Yes Paul this is the motor mounting screws, you will have to take each screw out in turn, pump silicone into the hole, then coat the little grommet and put it back in, do this with all the screws, i think there is 3. I tried some new un perished rubber grommets but without luck, silicone was the only way :?

This only leaks when on the move, not when stationary wierdly, it is a simplle fix for an irritating problem.

I had considered that; but not having another engine-dipstick to compare with; I'm kinda at a loss. The dipstick looks okay; assuming it is correct for the car; although it isn't perfectly straight. Also it makes contact with something if I put it in a certain way [not upside down, before anyone asks ;-) ]

Maybe some kind soul could measure from tip to base of handle ?

Thanks for the tips guys

The gearbox dipstick could be going down the side of the dip tube instead of into it. For the brake lights and side lamp warnings make the connectors to the rear lamp clusters good, the springs get weak with age.
