S2 with PRV & Diravi

What I thought. I always understood that they left a gap between the two 24v units...until the dates you say Paul.
Maybe that's not been the case. I wonder if there was a different situation for LHD cars, ie just fit the left over PRV 24 v engines in the first S2 cars to get rid.

Wonder if the reputation of the engine got some bad press and totally ruined sales. A little time off gives people time to forget! Not saying the improved mk2 PRV 24 v was bad. But I suppose it looks good that they went away and came back with a 'better' engine in the ES9J.

Citroen Honered all engine failiures as and when detected. The Followers wore the valve lifters away, mainly due to slight lack of oil supply to the top end, is what I was told. Ive got a knackered PRV in my shed to open up one day and see exactley whats going on, and ponder if Id ever get the bits to repair it up..

My 24v has the modified engine in it. As for ESJ the PRV was an early 70s design! By the 90s it was time to replace the engine with a newer cleaner more refined engine that would be future proof.

Enter the ESJ that has carried on into 2000.. and on its second incarnation.

Yeah, the PRV was a bit of an old horse by the 90's. Served many cars well though. Still can't get over how different the PRV 24v is to the 12v. It's so SM like I think.

Had to be emissions that killed it. They went all clean air act in the early 90's.....

It's quite interesting that the XM and SM both shared slightly dodgy engine problems that needed warranty replacements. Coincidence clearly, like the jag s type advert...all a bit of history repeating!

Yes, as the SM engine and XM engine are Worlds apart and no where near related. Only relation both 6 cylinders and both a 90 deg Vee.

Have you driven a 24v PRV Russ.... PROPERLY??

Errr, no but had a nice ride in Matthews Germany car at the National and CXM. I did have a go driving it, but not as you really should.

..... Let's hope so. No excuses this year. Celebrations in September....or technically should it be May.....

Yea, Im fully aware no excuses, if the DERV auto fails to be done by then, I litterally need to check brakes over, fill a TINY weeny hole under the B post on passenger side, and put and MOT on her and Tax..
