True, but if original fit was Valeo I'd plump for that as they last bloody long enough really.

The original clutch would have been a Valeo item.

Re: Wanted: Clutch kit for 2.5TD
I checked through my stock pile the other day.
All including the two aftermarket boxes contain components with Valeo markings.
Only the Topran thrust bearing bought separately has no branding.

Re: Wanted: Clutch kit for 2.5TD
The Granada used a VM Moturi engine. The Sierra used PSA 2.3 Atmo.kingp wrote:Didn't look fully but they were just quick ones on the baypug 605's had the same engine didn't they?
Also for some reason I have Granada 2.5td rattling around in my head but not sure on that one but another possible part source...
I would be quite happy fitting any major brand clutch, Valeo, Sachs, Borg & Beck.

Re: Wanted: Clutch kit for 2.5TD
Hopefully enough to replace the clutches on half my 2.5's.
Two of the better 2.5's are SORN because they need doing.
I intend to run 2.5's as long as I can, hence the big stockpile of spares.
Few technical issues to sort out before I do the clutches on the long life cars.
At a minimum to those I want to fit longer gear ratios to improve economy.
Hope to have a spare engine ready later this year.

Re: Wanted: Clutch kit for 2.5TD
You are right.
On the sample data I have collected the average life of a 2.5 clutch is just under 200k miles based on around 25 XM's.
The outliers were 35k and 100k (pedal riders) on short life and 265k (taxi) and 330k (mainly motorway car) on long life.
I ignored a couple of less than 1k life as these were thrust bearing failures due to incorrect assembly with other components reused.
Citroen cost for a 2.5 clutch replacement used to be £1400 labour and materials.
Paul Johnson of the then XM Centre would not do them as he considered the job underpriced by £200.
The lowest price I have seen was £900 by an Indy in S. Wales.

Definitely a job for DIY over a weekend or so then and worth of the belts and pump to be done at the same time.
Didn't Someone mention that Noz could do them without dropping the box out though which would reduce the job to just a few hours?

Re: Wanted: Clutch kit for 2.5TD
Water pump does not need to be done with the rest of the belts.
It has its own drive belt on the clutch end of the engine.
Be aware that there are two different water pumps, belts and pulley for 2.5's.
Yes Noz did do a clutch swap insitu but it was real hard work with very limited access.
Noz can do the main belts in an hour as a show piece.
Normal people take most of a day.
