ebay '98 VSX TURBO in black - oh yet another auto...

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Hi All

This sounds like it is getting towards a lot of parts shuffling.
Glad my bit was just delivering the engine and box to Anglesey.
Took me months to get round to that.

It's back with what looks like a different seller:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1998-CITROEN-XM-V ... 0523567888

The £350 was a nice 'bargain' price last time really considering the engine's go for that.

Probably because of how much fuel it uses?

Hi Andrew/Robert
As I'm not sure what gone off  so Robert (AKA Database-man) maybe a need to get the thinking caps on to decipher :?:

As per Andrews initial LINK in this thread which on that occasion the listing ended on 07 Nov, 2009 18:40:42 GMT (E-Bay seller rupert8585 - Item number:-110451231121) price £350 as Andrew has stated !

Also the following FEEDBACK was left on 20th December 2009:-

'Thanks for all.... tnx Buyer: rawal69 ( 3 ) 20-Dec-09 22:57 998 CITROEN XM VSX TURBO AUTO BLACK (#110451231121)'

Yet it was listed again by the same seller (item number 110460949596) and on that occasion color=#FF0000]the listing ended on 27 Nov, 2009 17:46:06 GMT[/color] for £250.61 to the current E-bay seller ('ultimatefrankie' with one feed-back) which you can see leads back to the SAME car bought from 'rupert8585' !

So has the latest seller bought it for £250.61and then gone and spent another £200 on a nearly full exhaust system (Total spend £450) then thrown the towel in trying to get all the faults rectified (Note the ABS lights are problematic on this one) before the MOT expires in February ?

I wonder if the boot is still full of hidden treasures from the last time it was on E-Bay ?

Nobody spends 450quid on an exhaust, especially for a 250 car and then auctions the car a fortnight
or so later with no reserve!?

It's an auto so I've never been that interested in the car really although it photographed nicely
first time around even if the more recent efforts were a bit photographically challenged:

I'm guessing the booty of parts has worked it's way onto ebay? and that 450 exhaust was bought
with the proceeds for 50?

Even more reason to monitor the sale of cars! Stuff like this isn't really on my Radar. My "database" doesn't have all cars, just ones of interest to me, particularily dear stuff, and stuff I might buy. If its too cheap it doesn't go on.

One thing I have noticed is that a lot of XMs don't stay with their "new" owners long before they're back up for sale again. So are people trying to make a quick buck, or are there problems with their cars.

With these turbo petrols, blowing exhaust manifolds gaskets/ cracked exhaust manifolds seems to be a big weakness, and a possible reason why they, seem to appear for sale often with new exhausts fitted, presumably they thought a new exhaust would sort out the boom, but give up when they find its not the case?

That white turbo petrol I had in the summer had a blowing exhaust manifold and cracked turbo. The new owner has sorted these now. But it can cost the value of the car to rectify.
