2.1 TD Parts Wanted

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

I always knew XM estates were big, but is that really necessary..

Hi Kit

I'm having the same problem as your breaker, the nuts/studs are firmly corroded into the turbo, one a I can probably grind off but the other two are between the turbo and block so cant get grinder in, and thats with the engine out of the car! I would check with your mechanic that he can actually do the job, if he feels he can I will endeavor to remove it.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your efforts. I have managed to get the reserve car on the road so I will wait to our local Citroen specialist is back to work next week. He is in hospital today for a minopr op. Once we get the car up on the ramp again we can have a really good look at the problem. We will of course have the option to run the engine and heat up the turbo which may help. If you could take a photo of the joint and post it on the forum, or send it as a pm, it would give me something to think about, or perhaps have nightmares about.
Thanks Kit
PS, Are you enjoying your stove?

Hi Peter,
My local Citroen engineer will be back at work next week. He says getting the pipe off the turbo could be 'fun'. He has done it before. Are you prepared to have another attempt to remove yours? The bottom line for me is that I have to fix this car, do you think there is any milage in changing the turbo and pipe as a unit?
Cheers Kit
PS I completely agree with you about buying cars, I too would always prefer a car that needed mechanical work. so called 'good condition' cars always need work, in my experience.

Hi Kit

I was going to take a photo and forgot about it, sorry  I will have a go, the only thing which will work I think is to weld nuts onto yhe existing bolts if I can get to them. The sun is shining - at the moment, if it continues I will have another look this afternoon.

Peter,
I have had a talk with my local Indy and the bottom line is, it's a hell of a job, if I was a regular customer I think he would do it. He is obviously not keen and would charge accordingly. I just do not have the time to do it myself so I wonder if you want to make an offer? If so I will pm you photos and a list of known faults.

PS. Sorry the pic is so large, I have just moved from Jasc to Adobe and have not yet worked out how to make it smaller. Was simple with PaintShop but that program is sulking now and won't run.

Hi Kit

Sorry I have not been back to you about this one but have had no energy this week, don't get old :D Mine was changed when the head was removed and I think its quite likely that yours would need the same - I didn't want to disillusion you though. :( By all means let me have the details of yours and let me know where you live and I will try to come and have a look.

Hi Kit,
I see your XM is sporting Vauxhall Omega Alloy's, I didn't know that they are the same PCD as XM's They look pretty 8-)
(I was aware that some five stud Volvo, Saab and Alfa Romeo fit though).

Could you not fit the centre cover caps on because of some fitting problem with the XM stud-bolts (Hex. head protrusion too long) maybe ?
As from the photos it appears to being fitted with the chrome finished type from an XM with steel wheels as these have the conical seating faces similar to the Omega stud-bolts,
unlike the the XM O/E alloy wheels which use a flat washer seating faced stud-bolt :!:
