If you can, get it off the road.
As you have presumably paid your premium until xyz date, tell them that you wish to keep it insured with them (not for road use).

Paid in full and even got a cheeky request for even more money but was told in the phone call today that all decisions are final and the policy has been stopped.
It has also been moved off road parking.

I'd strip it bare for that price!

Dad was thinking of taking the leather interior out of it as that is immaculate. Would be a bit difficult for them to drive the car away without any seats....

Not sure if its worth anymore hassle reporting it to the ombudsman as they'll probably just see it as another old worthless car not worth their time.

To be honest they will lot be driving it away, it will just be dragged or driven onto a transporter and then taken off to which ever scrapper has the contract with that insurance co for the area and then sold off for parts or weighed in of it doesn't earn more than £100 for them.

Did you not clarify the position of what the payment was for before accepting their offer?

I was told on the phone that I had to accept their offer and send them screenshots of adverts of similar cars for sale and then wait for a further interim offer if they decide its worth more money.
Told them I wanted to keep the car and they said yes thats fine.
Got a call yesterday saying that was the interim offer and they will arrange to have the car collected.
Phoned them back today and got told that the decision was final and they will arrange to have the car collected.
I get told something different every time.

I've no doubt you can find "screenshots" of similar cars worth £2000 - £3000

Sorry, but this all smells dreadful.
The ONLY communications that mean anything are those in writing.
I have never heard of an "interim" payment by an insurance company, followed by vehicle "collection".
STOP IT NOW, AND DO NOT LET THE VEHICLE GO.
If you are a member of AA or RAC etc., then contact them, and alert their legal department. They will take action.
If you have received any monies from the insurance company, write to them and tell them that the payment is Frozen, and you are taking legal advice (and Ombudsman advice) on how the claim had been dealt with.
Take control!

Will give the ombudsman a ring and see if that gets anywhere. Not got much hope for it though.
