Cam belt and bits wanted... 2.5!

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

I had a balance belt fail last year, felt it go and felt the vibration afterwards, until I got it home and replaced both belts. Vibration was only slight but noticeable, I was lucky the broken belt didn't take out the cam belt. Quite hard to tension the balance belt correctly unless you have an electroninc gauge, as access is limited when fitted and the belt is ribbed both sides. I use a small hydraulic tensioner

Hi Hydroman

Thanks for that info about your balance belt failure.
It all adds facts to the decision making.

I see you have moved on from 2.5's, so do you still have any of the belt spares ?

It is on Citroen's list for the job but seldom replaced.
No idea if they are still available.
I doubt if I would do more than check it remains in good order.

Sorry, John, no belt spares, used them on the last belt change. Quite hard to tension balance belt, tension is low, access limited, I used a hydraulic sykes pickavant tension measuring tool to get the right tension. Because the belt is double sided, I checked the tool calibration by hanging 20kg from an old belt cut to hang in one length from a shed roof beam!
