I've to source the parts for the repair job. I popped in yesterday, and it was the valve attached to the sphere that sits in front of the engine. Any ideas what it could be? Would it come with a sphere if I ordered one. I'm going to order rear spheres as well.

Hi Morciii

Thats the pressure regulator, it does what it says on the tin really and regulates pressure to the brakes and suspension at a pressure of 145-170bar, the sphere is there as a store and buffer of hydraulic fluid under pressure and would not come with a new/reconditioned regulator.
What is wrong with it? they are very robust bits of kit.

It's just a leak from the valve. One of the many things it failed it's MOT on. The rear suspension is rock solid, and although it didn't show up in the MOT, it will need fixed too. Is it just a case of sourcing replacement spheres? Or could it be the rear regulator too. I'm guessing it's not the regulator as that should have showed up on the MOT

Also, if anyone could point towards the correct aircon belt, that would be brilliant. I can find plenty for non aircon models, and plenty for. Aircon models but different engines.

Bumped into a guy today with an L reg Xantia. He talked me through the car, and reckons it needs a new rear pressure regulator. He gave me a spare one. So that's at least one thing off the list.

Bit puzzled - there isn't a rear pressure regulator...just the one at the front, attached to the Accumulator sphere...
There is a rear height corrector
There's a rear suspension regulator (attached to rear centre Hydractive sphere)

Any chance of posting a photo of the part you were given?
And maybe of the leak at the front too, showing where it's coming from?
Whereabouts are you based, by the way, Morciii?
If you could also post the car's VIN number, that will help identify exactly what it's equipped with.

This will be a hydractive1 car, a picture may help but it sounds like the spheres are flat plain and simple, i would do all of them and be done with it.
If the back end of the car is dragging the floor it could be the rear height corrector which is the issue, it will be the links that are seized in that case and not the height corrector itself.

If H1, possible it's stuck in Firm mode - EV not operating, maybe just at the back.

The only way that could happen is if the pressure supply to the rear firmness valve was clogged and that can't happen as the fluid needs to pass through the electro-valve gauze. It will be flat sphere's.
Of course, that is if the ride height is correct.

Will also stick in Firm mode if the EV isn't powered/working, surely?
Default = Firm.
