Be careful sploshing oil about the place as the rubber will rot - have you not seen GS/Cx lower
engine mounts coated in oil before?

It's a fair point, but yet that takes *years* and besides, given the position of the rubber bush within the cone of the strut mount, the oil shouldn't really contact it greatly, whereas the G/CX engine mounts take years of being continually in contact with oil before they go soft.

Be sure however, I shall report back full of woe should my struts escape due to the rubber rotting

More news, the fans appear to function as they should -not in permanence etc. So maybe red cables feed the fans (*should* be that, as they go to the relays at the lhs behind headlights), but at least it's wired correctly.

I've now asked the seller to do me a little test on the Hydractive -I'm suspicious *only* 4 spheres have been changed, wondering whether car has unresolvable hydractive problems and 4 "comfort" have been fitted-, which I don't want at all.

But that's all really, prob nothing else to check about it, just get on with bidding -no earlier than Sunday though!-.

And George, be carefull gents, it may be a nice car but it is still a near base spec XM, not worth getting in a bidding war over i wouldnt of thought, not with a nice Prestige of the same spec and age for sale at the moment too.
