SOLD: 2.1TD MANUAL Estate, 58K miles Erm Bought!

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Ah right, must be normal then, but thats quite a way out. Maybe something to do with it having the smallest tyre sizes too, the speedo might be set up for the 2.5s with the large tyres. Ill just have to remember when im in that to drive faster

Got the lamp thing figured, it should light up :)

Thanks, Chris.

So, nice Xm's are like wine - red or white?

Damn, can't get the gate shut - should've bought a shorter car - Activa perhaps? ;)
OR MAYBE NOT!!

I really like the colour - set's the estate shape off nicely - looks very smart and sophisticated. 8-)
The ride height still isn't quite right on that white one's back end though!!!? :D

Chris, you'll need to get that signature of yours fettled.

Yes sounds like that might be why its been added, ive heard of this being done before too.

It does seem that with the suspention in soft mode, via this little switch, means the car is acting normal, as the alarm functions and so does the sport suspension warning light. Which is odd, if it was added to solve the problem of it being in sports all of the time then id have though it would act normal when its locked into sports, but nope.

Thanks for the tip, ill check that and see what i find.

It wont be used much between now and monday when its getting the cambelt replaced, so ill probably have a look into this at the weekend.

when my sat nav is showing 69 mph the needle is showing about 74mph so it sound about right
When i was out the other day my speedo was reading 65mph and the satnav said 176mph :) it does it sometimes and i dont know why, my record is 198mph ;)

Very nice looking car Chris, whats the story with the different coloured panels then? is there any damage/filler or is it going to be a case of giving it a light rub down and re spray?

Yes, thats quite annoying, been wondering about having a sliding gate on there, then it would comfortably take 4 cars with the gate shut. Although the Xms are always parked at the back of the house, which is totally enclosed and walled in - i dont actually think the neighbours know how many cars we have! The other cars also go at the back or in the garage so its only the odd times during the day which the drive is full. Hence how tight our parking is, since i dont leave any cars on show, and just when i was thinking we have loads of room now we have an even bigger car!

Hmm an Activa, maybe next time ....

Yes sure are, the red does look very nice, its a tiny bit dull looking at the moment, but i polished the rear wing with paint restorer and then polish and its came up a treat, brighter and much more shiny, looks a much better colour. Ill do the rest at the weekend. It could do with some alloys and mudflaps ....

The estate does look quite a big bigger then the hatch, indeed it is too. I think the shape suits the colour too, its a very nice colour, also makes a change since everything else here is either silver or white, with one green car in the mix.

I know, ive never done anything with the rear height since i mentioned it last time, it is a little bit on the low side at the rear, will have to make it a little higher. It was superb on the trip yesterday, 250 effortless miles.

Looking forward to having the estate properly sorted, with cambelts, this suspension switchy thing etc so we can get use out of it. Plan to use this more often than the other, as its so handy.

Chris, more pictures coming ....

Im just on with my sig now, trying to make another :D

Wow, i had no idea the 2.0i are so quick! Bit of an odd thing to happen

Well im not entirely sure, how it even left a body shop looking this way ive no idea. However the panels seem good, i cant see any other signs of damage so my guess is its just been a small scrape. I had a little magnet (padded obviously) earlier to see if there was any filler in the door and wing, or the rest of the car actually. There is a tiny bit of filler in the bottom of the drivers door, seems almost like a circle of it, but i couldnt find any anywhere else. The rest of the paintwork seems to be original. It still has original Citroen dealer number plates too.

To be honest with a car this age (and size!) you expect it to have had a tiny bit of bodywork at some point, so i dont mind that, just the fact its been so badly paint matched is very poor.

Thats a big down side, well the biggest downside to the car, the milticoloured drivers side. So ill have to get it into the bodyshop and get that repainted before too long. The bodyshop we use is a total perfectionist and hates using filler where not needed so im sure he will be able to have it sorted out quickly, however he is also the most costly too, but a good job is worth it.

The silver hatch had a bit of paintwork by him, as i mentioned when we got it the mirrors were scuffed and there was a scrape in the rear wing. So that soon got sorted out and it looked fantastic, you can never tell when he does a repair, which is how it should be! Dont know whats happened to the colour on this, im surprised its owner accepted it.

Other than that, its just this switch which needs looking at, so im really impressed with it, i couldnt find one this clean while we were looking a few months ago so i think its a decent one. Certainly drives very well and the interior is great, just cant wait to use it now.

In considering the accuracy of a speedo reading front tyre wear needs to be included. This reduces the actual speed to shown speed by 2% at full wear.
Always worth checking actual tyre size fitted against specification as mistakes do happen occasionally when new tyres are fitted.
Construction rules allow no over reading but quite substantial under reading.
Example quoted by Citroen is speed travelled 100kph, speedo may display in the range 100kph to 114kph.
On the suspect hard suspension it might be worth checking the electrovalve diodes.

John
Sorry John, missed your post.

The tyres are the correct size for that model, they match with the sticker in the door and indeed both rears are original

Talking of tyres, it does need some, one of the front needs replacement now and the other is a half worn energy, but i never replace just one tyre so it needs a pair. Actually since the rears are original it really needs a set.

What would anyone recommend for an Xm. How many people are still using Michelins?

I had Pirellis on the silver one, which i couldnt really fault, might go for those again.
