Selling off one (or bits

) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Jolly good. I might be interested in those then....
Cannock is very easy to get to. I think it is almost exactly inbetween both of us. Although might be quicker for me..M5 and M6 ect.
Sounds like Cobalt, the colour of the doors ect.
He hasn't got a working gas strut for the glove box has he....love that!

I will ask a price for everything. I think the panels are more admiral blue but it was dark in the lock up. I don't need anything as its all s1 stuff and not much use. I did ask about the gas strut. Lol

Please do ask him. I'm trying to rack my brains as to what else I need.....automatic gear stick maybe.
Headlights were my main thing.

I am sorry to interrupt chaps, but perhaps another thread could be started for the Cannock spares and Russ and Will are you no longer interested in helping me out? Some of my headlights have already been put aside Russ following our earlier correspondence, so are they not wanted now? Regards, Matthew T.

I'm so sorry Matthew. I only found out about these this evening. I seem to be finding headlights all over the place! I'm doing nothing yet...don't worry... It is very much subject to their condition. It would make sense to at least investigate them... As they are closer and if good, wont be taking your valuable spares. Although i very much appricate your kind offer and would certianly accept if the Cannock ones are naff. But if the cannock ones are like mine now, then I won't be interested in those ones unless very cheap...I might use them to do some experiments on even. I will keep you posted, but yes I am still interested in yours.
The main thing I did want off the SD near you was infact the headlights...but even then it depends on their condition. No doubt there would be other items too that would be useful.
I would prefer to know more about the SD situation before confirming. It is a long way over to you and for me would need to be over three days. I'm certianly not dismissing it yet, but I just want to know further details. Who is buying the car...joint purchase ect?
If only you were a bit closer, I would be over to you in a shot!
PM sent ....

I was planning to let you have the headlights for free Russ and they are good ones, while I guess it would not be worth the trip to dismantle the Norfolk SD if you only definitely need lights. If there are one or two people after significant spares and able to assist I would suggest splitting the cost pro-rata, which is anyway not very much. It might be possible for me to make another visit next week when I will try raise, back out and further inspect the car before a firm decision is made to break. With regards, Matthew T.

I really think that is a good idea Matthew...on both buying it and assessing it. I think it needs to be closely inspected first. It would be such a shame to break the car.
But I suppose if nobody wants it what can we do. Better to break than let it go to scrap.
I really want to help you, but my goodness it really is a long drive. 4/5 hours.
One thought, if it is a solid car and too good to break and a buyer can't be found. Should WHM be contacted? Sorry not going to be a popular suggestion that.

The reason I've kept out of this for a while is I'm very much in the
if it's good enough why scrap it camp. I'm still not convinced that it's right to scrap it. I would have the car and restore it but I just do not have the space at the moment.
But I do agree with the last part of Russ's quote - if there is no other way to keep a good car going then it is surely better to keep the parts in the XM community where they will be used rather than seeing the whole car scrapped. In that case I would probably make one in . . . even though it would be a 4 hour drive.

Im far from a break for no reason too.. look at the work on my 24v ive done. I bought a manderin xm for parts which was going to donate the wing bonnet and nose cone to my sed but when i looked under it and saw how good it actually was i changed my mind... dont write off a cars under body from standing around.. the j reg one i bought was a costal car too.. so being garaged you might be rather suprised..
