As title posting spotted on E-BAY (the stud/bolt's are included) !

These were on before for £150. They look tidy enough, pity they are the centreless bandits.

I'm getting an XM with this type of wheel I think... Are they a pain? Is it a case that finding a place to balance them is difficult?

They're a pain to balance. You need to find a tyre shop with an adapter piece who can balance them. Call round a few places and see if anyone local can do it for you.

I use my local Peugeot dealer for everything as I get on really well the the mechanics there.

They have the adapter for the machine to do it and have been able to do my centreless 306 wheels and the centreless ones on my dads 406 Coupe with no problems.

The XM centreless ones took them 3 attempts to get right.

We couldn't understand why.... Must just be the design...... Either that or mine were buckled!

I've also been told that there are places that balance them on the car. As recommended to me by my Citroen guru, Dennis at Citroen Softride. He's not usually wrong. But I must say I wasn't aware of such a thing.

He's correct, although I don't know of anywhere that does it!

The XM I'm in the process of importing from Malaysia had a new set of tyres fitted to it out there and they were balanced on the car.

I used to know and use a garage that did this type of dynamic wheel balancing with the wheels still on the vehicle and I found that this method was the best/as good as you'd could ever get !

But say after a month or two later you had remove the wheels (i.e. to replace the brake pads) my advice would be to mark the wheel/valve position onto to the hub face with marker paint or yellow crayon for a datum position, as this type of dynamic balancing includes the weight of the hub/disc and sometimes if the wheels were put back in a different stud-bolt position a steering wobble was generated after some work/repairs to your car !

Just found out my local ATS has the adapters for PSA wheels including the XM ones mentioned. They do a fair few balances for local dealerships etc.

They weren't aware of anyone who did on-the-car dynamic balancing anymore.

I have heard of the on the car balancing, it sounds interesting. I wodner how much it costs.
