There is no difference between cables for manual, or Auto gearboxes. The cables are in two parts, upper and lower and yours being a 1992 car will have the speed sensor in the centre of the cable, not mounted on the gearbox.
Your car will have the speed sensor has both male screw fittings, both cables have female fittings

There are three types of sensor and cable setups for Hydractive Xm.
Type-1: Sensor mounted on the gearbox, cables having male/female joint.
Type-2: Sensor mounted midway, cables having male/female connections.
Type-3: Sensor mounted midway, cables having female/female connections.

Member XM2.0SiAuto had some upper cables made up, but I believe they were all male connector type.

The easiest option is going to be have a cable made to match the one you have.

Have you investigated the failure, it's common for the plastic grip at the top of the cable to break off and this can easily be repaired with lock wire and epoxy adhesive.
If removing the complete upper cable attach a webbing taper to the top end by tying and taping over it, then pull through into the engine bay. Refitting is a case of tying and taping the taper to the new cable and pushing/pulling it through. It's a five minute job if done right.

I have done this job before, but can not remember if it had sensors or not or if in two parts, but you are right about the plastic breaking, plastic seems to be on the brittle side.
I was wondering how easy or hard of a job, to fit the other type, electric type

Found one on eBay, brand new, I had a check under the car and mine as the Sensor mounted on the gearbox

Are you sure yours has the electrical sensor on the gearbox, not midway. Being a 1992 car it should be midway, but of course could have been swapped due to previous cable failure.

Before committing to buying another cable check what type you need and which part of the cable has failed, upper, or lower section.
If the one you are looking at is the 485mm one, that is the lower section. The upper section is just over 1m long.

Using a later electrical speedometer and pickup is a bit complicated on a Hydractive-1 Xm. I need to perform more testing, but from previous tests, the Hydractive-1 Ecu can't use the digital On/Off signal the 3 pin Hall effect sensor creates, it requires the analogue sine wave generated by the two pin sensor.

It's a mod I intend to do, after already converting my V6-24 to electronic speedometer.

Yes the sensor is definitely on the gearbox, that is the original gearbox for the car, I have found the old bottom half of the cable from when I had done this job before, and it is the same sensor at the gearbox end

Double check your car has the electronic sensor at the gearbox, then go to the jointer and part it to confirm which cable you need, upper, or lower.
Try pulling either wire out of the sheath, they should be crimped in, also jack up one front wheel and with the engine running put it in gear and observe if the lower cable is spinning, if so the upper cable must be the faulty one.

Make sure the car is well supported on an axle stand and the other wheels are well blocked, especially an auto, which could drive away if it fell onto it's wheels.
