Hi, new here, first post. I would like to buy a Diesel XM, late as possible and prefer Auto, though would also consider the right manual. Need a sorted car which has been properly maintained and has no issues. Sick of all the speed bumps around London and need something to cushion them properly. Cash ready for the right car, London/Essex area.

Anybody able to help please send me a message, thanks.

XM Thats sorted? where? We'd all like one of those ;)

Can I just advise that you do a LOT of reading on here!

The newer the car DOES NOT necesserally mean the more sorted the car.. It is down to how the car has been cared for.

I find the models around K 1993 to 1994 M reg the best ones.. but theres lots of conflicting perferences to models on here.

Also expect a good few miles on any DERV now, a low milage one would be quite rare, ass they are wonderfull machines they DO get "Used" and miles built up.

Good luck with your search!

(Have you thried This Guy? who knows his stuff Has a good few in now by the looks of it...)

Hi Paul, thanks for the reply and the link. Yes I have been on here all day reading :D

I do like the S1 interior more and it looks like a 2.1 diesel would be the best car for me. I quite fancy the maroon Ebay one but I am totally non technical and would have no method of transporting the car if I were to win the auction.

Any tips/guidance would be much appreciated.

If you want an S1, which I DO also agree is the Better design, and original, then go for one on a 1993 K plate to early 1994 M plate..

These seem to be the BEST ones.. and they do now and again come up in DERV Auto, But theres no DERV Auto before J 1992 I think.

I would also consider a manual, doesnt have to be auto if the car is a good one.

Next question, any about? There are a couple on the link provided but miles seem very high for the prices being asked. :!:

Be patient, the right car will come along. Don't go buying the first thing that comes up for sale. There will be a glut of good XMs again, you just have to wait. There aren't many for sale at the moment. The best advice I can give is buy on condition. Get the best you can. Worry about spec/trim levels later.

Plymouth is a very easy 80 miles from here, about 75% of the journey is on dual carrigeway, about an hour and a half A30/A38, don't know where abouts it is in Plymouth.

If you are thinking about a manual Mk1 I looked at one in Bridgwater on Sunday, leather interior and aircon, very nice, needs some work done, but you can do a lot of work for the difference in price! The red hatch on ebay, finshes tommorrow I think.
