As title posting spotted on E-BAY !
E-Bay Seller wrote: My car for the last 8 years.Full VSX spec. :- Electric seats, mirrors, sunroof, 4 x windows, headlight washers & fog lamps - all working. Regularly maintained. Excellent high speed tourer & workhorse. 35mpg around town 40/42mpg on motorways.

Original Citroen radio cassette with steering wheel controls.

Cambelt changed @ 100,000 miles. New spheres ( all 8 ) fitted by Westroen @ 123,000. Recent new O/S engine mounting, New exhaust front & centre sections January '09.

Number plate not included.

Runs well but as you would expect for a car of this age there are some minor faults. Viewing is advised.

If it was a saloon I would have it, exactly the kind of thing I am looking for. After reading up on here I have concluded a manual may be better.

Could've described the 'minor faults'. But smart looking.

Yeah, that's right, Xm autoboxes are indestructible and they last for ever!!
"Scaremongering" is a strong view of the personal experiences myself and others have encountered.
I can show you three failed cars, all from different owners (I may add).

Ok, a swallow doesn't make a summer but just be aware these fail as well as last to 180k plus mikeages.

Not so much for reasons of reliability (all old cars can fail) but because I'm after good economy. Does anyone have comparative figures for Auto vs Manual on the urban cycle please?

I get 41mpg from my 2.1 TD auto, thats a 70 mile round trip daily, with half of that on the motorway at 75, and the rest in towns and country roads. I don't hang about much either. I am pleased with it on a whole. The worst I ever got from it was 37 in the cold snap when people were driving too slow, and running the car to defrost it before leaving for work. For the Auto expect a range between 39-41mpg.

Peter N can make his 2.1 manuals sip less diesel than a 1.5D AX!!

Peter should also explain how he is able to get such MPGs as well... Lets say he doesn't drive like me!

Reminds me of the TZD Turbo BX we took on the BXagon Challenge. Before we left, Phil Boxall, my co-pilot was regularly getting over 60 mpg. On one trip, from Derbyshire to me in Essex it worked out at 70 mpg. Needless to say that was unachievable on the BXagon, but we did manage 53-ish. Trouble is when I drove I pushed the average down  :D
