This XM estate is only a stones throw from you @ Bristol, you
know you've really wanted a 2.5 TD one day and at £695 the seller
may take less (If you flash the cash) don't miss out on this nice looking/spec. estate, even if it not in Silver, (Magenta) is still a nice colour !
The reg. with an 'EWK' look's like it was registered possibly with
TANFIELD of Horsham as my 2.5TD VSX is !

Think that seller has sold XM's before.
As I recall a V6 Exc Mk2 fairly well priced and took a while to go.
Some discussion about replacement car/engine mileage as the ad could be interpreted more than one way.
This estate looks quite well looked after.
Not to MOT is a pity but it could just be that the seller sees it as irrelevant.
Many well looked after XM's pass year after year with no problems.
As to the car:
All UK Mk2 Estates were VSX.
The aircon and leather are factory upgrade fit.
The alloys are owner additions with the car starting life on steels or etoille alloys.
The Tan leather needs checking for signs of drivers seat wear at that mileage.
Downsides to me are:
Price a touch high even for an inspected all found good car.
MoT an imminent risk of quick sort items.
Due all the belts in the next year.
State of the Aux belt and car clutch are unknowns.
So despite the 2.5 estate being my favourite XM, this one is not for me other than adding to the ebay watch list.

He has had a few up for sale over the last couple of years. 2 * Series 1 and a Series 2. Strangely to say he is presumably buying them to sell, he doesn't tart them up, or even clean them usually.

Hi Dieselman
A quick look at his ebay record suggests that he buys to use rather than sell on.
Probably a private seller chosing to use a fixed price classified add rather than auction with reserve.

I recognised the e-bay ID as well. It looks like a nice combination in general. Its reasonably priced compared to what some 2.5 estates have made in the past.

The seller is a regular XM owner, and yes, he's sold a few before. However - it's not the same Bristol seller that was selling the black 24V with 'hazy' history a while ago (at least - the 24V was a different ebay account name anyway - and a very different style of sales pitch). The seller of the 2.5 is the same chap who had previously owned the 2.1 SED that is now with JonathanDyane. That car went from this seller to another local owner (not an enthusiast) from whom I later bought it to save it from scrapping. With a bit of MOT work it was good for another year, but I have too many cars so passed it on to Jonathan. Discounting the deterioration it might have suffered after this ebayer owned it, the car seemed to have been quite well kept by him, though looked a little down on it's luck by the time I got it. He definitely had it for a number of years. Obviously, that won't tell us much about this 2.5, but I think this seller is a genuine enthusiast who can't seem to give up on XMs.
As a side note - I remember an almost identical car being sold in Cornwall a few years back - having previously been used as a taxi there. Same model, colour and tan leather. I think it had a higher mileage than this car though?

Hi Tim
Thanks for correcting my poor memory of sellers from Bristol.
You are also right about the similar Penzance Taxi.
It was R reg with just over 200k and sold for £450.
It is currently T&T and resides in Petersfield at the moment.

I know ggregory is an XM driver, but of late he seems to be getting through quite a few of them in a short space of time. If he wants an XM why not just keep one of them?
When he was selling the SED he also had an estate for sale, then the 2.1 series-2, now this only weeks later.
