Late 2.5 Main (Engine) ECU
Anyone got a late version ECU for a 2.5TD they want to part with or know of a possible source?
It needs to be known good with immobiliser code or code disabled.
Versions are:
BOSCH 0 281 001 336 or
BOSCH 0 281 001 589.

Crumbs, I thought you'd be the one to have such a thing - what chance have the rest of us got!?

Re: Late 2.5 Main (Engine) ECU
Hi Andrew
It is not for me.
Just not got a spare late one, only a small stack of the early ones.
Trying to sort out long distance the man who got sold an XM with the wrong ECU and the wiring cut about.
Not keen on risking an ECU from a working car in the post or frying it on the duff wiring.
He is so keen that he even considering asking WHM.
Just though I would ask around in case one of us had one spare.

And there is this one here John on the other Forum from Techmanagain.
2.5 Td Estate much caniballised already, still providing many useful spares.
The engine/gearbox has gone but parts from it may still be available. Giveaway prices. Contact on 01455 553448 (evenings pref.) or email brian.primmer@btinternet.com

Re: Late 2.5 Main (Engine) ECU
Try this chap, I know he has an early type (no MAF) 2.5 being broken and it was a fully running car. The car came off the road due to head gasket problems. Greg on 07860 237945.
If necessary I can collect this.
I still think with an appropriate circuit diagram, a late car (with MAF) could be made to run on an early ECU, just ignore the MAF input.

John,
Have you got anywhere with this now, I'm really curious.
Have you managed to find relevant circuit diagrams for both setups yet?

Re: Late 2.5 Main (Engine) ECU
Hi Dieselman
We have finally got it back to square 1.
It now runs on an old type ECU but it ignores the throttle and engine just races.
It was delivered from Exeter like this by the PO.
It seems speed was controlled by slipping the clutch.
With the correct ECU it will not start and the injector pump does not send fuel.
Have some of the diagrams and there are some pin function differences between the ECU types.
Wiring has been confirmed as correct for the later type ECU.
This we are sorting the glowplug relay.
Present one is not either of the XM types.
It runs continuously with the old type ECU as long as the ignition is turned on.
With the late type ECU it does nothing.
The XM ones are controlled and monitored by the ECU.
He has a late XM type coming on Wed.
Regards
John
