If I didn't have too many already and it being an auto, I'd buy that, even with a blown head gasket...which it does sound like it is.
Notice the exhaust steam as well.

If it was the gasket, by now it would've surely suffered more serious failure, or at least the vendor would've mentioned emulsion in the oil? And I wonder whether the radiator cap issue he touches on could be the issue? As I'm still searching for that elusive 'right' XM, and I'm going to be in Kent this w/end, I might go check it out.

Diesels rarely mix the oil and water. Due to the high compression the water just gets blown out of the system.

Having recently done two 2.1td head gaskets I would buy that car and do it.
It will have an EGR valve which makes it a pain, but it is doable, especially if you remove the manifold from the exhaust, otherwise hang it from the fully open bonnet so the head and manifold can lift together. then part after the head clears the dowels.

I have been driving a 2.1 with a leaky head gasket for over 10,000 miles and its still OK, as long as you don't screw the filler cap right down, it lets it vent and doesn't blow the water out. Depends how bad the leak is of course.

Why oh bloody why do they have to be so far away! This being an S1 wont have EGR on it.. I wonder exactly what year it is, and if its an SD or a D...

It's a 1994 car so will have EGR.

1994 is S1 cars, didn't think that had it.. ah wait a min, if its Alloy inlet with Bosch then it will have EGR, which by 1994 they did...

Looking at it again, it does look nice in black...thinking about it...you don't see too many about in black nowadays do you.

Black does suit them - just like black suits CXs, especially Prestiges!

Very nice, black with black door and bumper trims, S1.5 too, surely distance is no objector this beauty Paul?
