As title listing spotted on E-BAY, this engine/gearbox is a rare combination, I have only ever seen one-other to this one in a hatchback, I know there's currently two more 16 valvers on E-Bay, (but ones an Estate and the others 'Ragger's'/'Citroenmad's' old one but that's an Auto although in the description/listing it states that it a Manual :? ) !

This one I actually knew about, as I've worked on it (A few years back now though) to help the old boy out who owned it, but unfortunately he died earlier this year, after a long battle with Cancer .

From what I can remember, as it was a while back now I replaced all the spheres (Apart from the anti-sink one) and I also replaced half the exhaust system middle to back IIRC !

It will also have had the head-gasket, cam-belt (Maybe water pump to) replaced, as when his missus was out in it once (approx. 3 years ago) the cam-belt let go and wrote off the head !

I managed to locate one from an E-Bay seller (For only £50 which was also from an XM) but then he had to pay out a fair bit (CX services @ Ripley/Derbyshire) who repaired it back to it's former glory !

This XM with the 2.0 litre 16-valve engine and manual gearbox combination is possibly a better combination/choice than a 2.0 litre Turbo (Definitely better than a 2.0 litre turbo with a Slugggggomatic gearbox)

Best of luck who ever secures this one !

:)

I went to view this car today. Wouldn't start without jumping, then kept stalling, which might've been because it was right down to the warning light on fuel. Might've been a totally knackered battery. Managed to drive it a few hundred yards though, but the ride height adjustment was well slow and the ride itself lumpy. Lots of rust on NSF strut top, too. Short MoT and no tax. Sunroof wouldn't open and the lady vendor admitted that it leaked in heavy rain. Lots of dings and scrapes, some bad(ish) but no rust to speak of. Good stuff: engine seemed willing 'til it spluttered then stalled, transmission good, too. Leap of faith required, methinks.
