Yeah my car. Actually I need to get shot of just one XM but the 2.1TD isn't as saleable as the 2.0 petrol. I'd spend the entire week explaining how long the tacho hasn't worked, why there's a dent in the rear arch, how much those nasty fake chrome inserts are to replace (£joke), why the NSF bumper is an inch out of place, why there are small ciggy burns on the driver's seat, and so on and so forth.

The 2.0 is just a much prettier, more complete car - it's also my favourite :(

I realise the XM crowd regard the 2.0i SX as being the runt of the litter but for several very good reasons it is not

- It's about 20hp down on the turbo but it's still easily quick enough
- It's the most economical petrol, 35-40mpg making good use of the XM's huge tank for a 600 mile range
- There's little to go wrong in terms of pointless French electrics (e.g. armrest)
- Without any electrical gubbins the seats are very deep and CX Pallas comfortable
- It's more than fast enough for my needs
- It's also quiet, smooth, and warms up in the winter like you wouldn't believe

The ONE THING that doesn't work on it - and it stopped working last f*****g week - is the remote fob. Any ideas? Both plippers stopped working so it's something on the car.

Anyway, looking forward to getting my diesel to my petrol's kind of standard!

Nice car - I like 2.0i's and have now come to the conclusion that the 16v'er probably
is the best option of that set. I like the straightforward 'honesty' and the squidgy seats
as you do too. Great colour too! :D

The plipper sounds like the receiver has gone awol rather than two plippers; on some of
mine water manages to get into the roof lining console and can play merry hell with the
electrics for the receiver and the sunroof - on a badly wet day the switch in the roof got
so wet on one of my cars and shorted, opening the roof in the process which was a real
pain and quite startling with the unexpected noise of the roof opening above me.

Of course, this would only happen on the working sunroof car too!

Sad your favourite needs to go mind! Baby forces sale?

Baby forces sale.

Thanks for the advice mate - appreciated.

If anyone wants to make me a serious offer I'd rather the car went to a fellow XM enthusiast rather than someone who sees it as a low mileage hack that'll see him through two years while he runs it into the ground.

Shudder :?

What a nice looking Xm, 2.0 16v is a great car, very simple, very smooth and brisk.

Yours is such low mileage, an auto which is desirable and a great colour. It should sell, but then you never can tell with Xms.

If you have not already, car and classic might be a good place to list if for sale, as im sure its worth a deal more than your starting price.

Those chrome inserts are quite pricey! The stainless side trims are a good option, our white one has those, it also has new genuine trims on the front and rear bunpers, which were expensive but worth it.

Good luck with the sale :)

FYI - sold but buyer backtracked on the monday. These things happen.

Don't tell anyone  but I'm happy to still have the car. I love it!

Guess you now know what the market values your car at for insurance replacement purposes!
The running up bidder didn't want to know then? Or is their identity hidden from you in the
dumbed down ebay?

I didn't contact the runner up because I realise I liked the car too much. Honestly.
