Is it only me that thinks a car with such little use in seven years is likely to need a lot of recommissioning to be safe and reliable?
That also looks like a big dent to leave in a three grand car.

It wouldn't need all that much to see it right. Timing belt being the main thing I would worry about.
I have bought a few of these sub 25K mile cars, and they have been very good in terms of needing little recommissioning. I would say they need no more preventative maintenance than any used car, ie all the belts, coolant, oil and filters change.
The ding isn't pretty, I would use it as a bargaining point, either knock a few hundred off, or make him justify an eventual high sale price.

Other than being a base model car it's very nice.
Lots of XM seem to have that rear wing dented, but it's not insurmountable. If that was a 2.1 manual it would have been gone by now.
