That is a beaty. I mustn't be feeling very well as I'm thinking that's a superb buy for the money. Must have a lie down...

That is a carbon copy of the car recently acquired by Geoff in Christchurch near March from Savoy Garage which was at both CXM and ICCCR (see photo attached). Although I accept the mileage is very low and the condition appears to be nice, it does make my much rarer series one car seem a bargain at £1,500!! Regards, Matthew T.

IMO if that was the 24V (Xantia Engine) as opposed to the PRV 12V that it's got, then it would be worth the money. Lovely mileage and colour combination.

PRV 12V though, don't think it's worth that IMO... However, it's worth what someone is willing to pay! Hope it sells! :D

Not intereted in plans to buy it so didn't look closely enough at the engine
which I took as the auto adaptive 60 degree unit (which I adore in my Xantiae
Exclusives). Can't remotely get excited about a slothbox on a 90 degree v6
block even if the last digit in the price was dropped off the asking price!

Yes. I despise old school (dumb) auto boxes that much.

Hey Andrew, I have an example of each and I have no real problem with what you call 'old-school'. I just change my frame of mind when I'm in the XM and just realise it won't do the clever things the auto-adaptive will do. The old 4HP18 is not a bad box at all and is a beautiful partner to the 2.0 TCT...

I think you are being very harsh and that's something an auto-adaptive can be at times but something unknown in a good old hydromechanical... :)

I would always go for a 24v engined V6 rather than the 12v, if in S2 guise and if the choice was there .... I think its getting to the point which a good example of an XM is a good car, think about spec and engine later, its always been my theory behind XMs. My Prestige just so happened to find me, I wasn't looking for a range topper.

I think the auto-adaptive gearbox is superb and coupled with the 24v V6 it is just truely superb. There are many advantages over the normal autobox. However the normal box provides very good gearchanges and it is well suited to the XM.

Which XMs got the auto-adaptive box then?

If we are talking perfect XMs, mine is perhaps an odd choice! It would have to be a S1.5 2.0TCT Manual in Si spec (I like the cloth XM seats and early style S1 wheel trims, though I might be tempted by a set of speedlines!). Colour, well im not too fussy, I really like the lightish blue colour that was rarely seen on any XM, available in both late S1 and S2s, Xantias also. Balmoral blue or something? My Citroen colour guide has taken itself off somewhere.
