Ok its Christmas.

cut the turbo oil return pipe with a plumbers pipe cutter,[this makes a clean cut.
undo all 10 head bolts,[leave manifolds and turbo attached to the cyl head].
remove one bolt from the inlet manifold,[this holds the metal water pipe down to the thermostat housing].
THE HEAD AND ALL OTHER PARTS SHOULD LIFT ON AS ONE.[use an engine crane to remove and refit from the car carefully].You can then move to the bench and strip all parts from the head to skim and pressure test.
On rebuild sleeve the turbo return pipe with oil risistant rubber pipe and 2 clips.
This is my way not gods but saves hours struggling over the bonnet of the car and a bad back.
done lots over the years and never a problem.
Hope this helps.

That's excellent Malcolm, good thinking :D

You didn't say disconnect the exhaust at the turbo flange but I guess it helps if you do

Very pleased to hear that its back on the road again Malcolm, I always had a soft spot for that car. I did manage to undo my turbo pipes with various shaped spanners but probably could have done it quicker your way.

I dont actually find the oil return the problem.. Its the damm bloody exhaust bolts a right PITA!!

Doesn't help when you have NOT got a ramp either and have to squeeze under a jacked and stand car !

I couldn't have done it without my ramp Paul, but you are somewhat younger and bendier than me. Could you not make something like I have out of sleepers or similar?
