Its by the throttle pedal down low to the right. Its either under or on top of the lower steel plate with other leccie stuff on it.

Hello Robert
many thanks for your help.Im getting advice, good friend who sold lots of these cars tells me its in the headlamp panel, personally never seen it when headlamps removed or engines out.I can remember this sort of box in the area you advise.having never had any problem with this ecu never looked.usually been relay fault, wireing behind relays or fan motors u/s.
Having looked on the citroen parts website it shows the box [ecu] around the h/lamp panel, relays and fans area. Not the best breakdown of where it should be placed.[xantia was always under n/s/f h/lamp].
thanks for your help.Thought i knew almost everything about the xm range after 20 years.Oh well still lots to learn.
Regards Malcolm

Hi Malcolm,

I have seen the Bitron box under the N/S headlamp on TCT Xantias I have broken, but don't recall ever seeing them in the engine bay of Xms.

Then again its not like Citroen to be consistent!
