Another ES9 V6...

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

It does look like a temptress doesn't it? I have looked at the ad several times but I shall continue to resist. I love my SED too much even though she is being a real b*tch at the moment about changing cabin temperature.

That's my view Russ, as much as I'd like all the S1 bits, I live with the S2 because the rest of the car is just so lovely. Mind you, every time I get in the car I want to shake the designer of the S2 dash warmly by the neck

There was an article in this month's Practical Classics were John Simister offered the opinion, with examples, the facelifts don't really work. He's right and both the XM and Xantia are good examples of that...

I did have a fleeting thought of getting hold of the black V6 and parting with my Xantia V6 but common sense prevailed. I know it's an S2 Xantia but it's good, low mileage and like my Activa I've had the old girl for years now.

Paul, get that V6. You know you want to and you know it is the best car you'll find as I doubt that you'll be ultimately happy with all that modern tin you've been flirting with recently ;)

Yes I read that Jim. I do like John Simister. I kind of briefly met him at the Ace Cafe 90th Birthday celebrations Citroen held a couple of years ago.
I agree to a degree....I personally do prefer the first generation of most designs. XM and CX look best as mk1. Xantia, I like either the very first sinkers of the latter mk3.
One car that does spring to mind where I do prefer the facelift, is the Alfa 164. It was subtle, but is was just enough to really neaten up the design.
A recent facelift too far was the current Fiesta. There was no need to tweak that design. And is now ruined because of it. I think anyway.

It's all a matter about taste of course. Myself I would prefer series 2 mostly. But that's also because I never owned any series 1, except for the GS.
Liked that alfa, they still make very nice models by the way.

Generally it's a case of better technology in later cars, but loosing the purity of the initial design. Can't really have both worlds.
