Right final reduction before I have to open it up to the general muppets as a 'cheap diesel car' £1k no offers, she is worth it :)

Hello chaps,

It is time for me to part with my XM, I have loved every minute of ownership (even replacing the thermostat, ok maybe not then!). It has 6 months tax and 6 months MOT, 88k miles (PM me for the V5 Doc reference so you can do a VOSA MOT mileage check), and I would like £1500 for it. Car is located in Woodford Halse, near Daventry.

There is my recommissioning thread here -viewtopic.php?f=19&t=4460

I have been driving the car every day since MOT'ing it and it has been great. Even the ABS is working! It is averaging 47mpg on my daily commute, 20 miles of B roads and 20 of A roads, 4 miles of town driving.

Good bits -

New cambelt / tensioner / water pump
New heater matrix
new silencer box
New cam box seal
New rear pads
Immaculate interior
NO SUNROOF LEAKS!!!
Abs working
Suspension in fine fettle, working in sport and normal, wafty!
NO Lacquer peel, even on the rear quarter light inserts
Clutch cable metal clip replaced with fabricated metal item
Well serviced and looked after

Bad bits -

Passenger window cables tangled, window shuts and opens 2" before jamming, I have a repair kit.
New silencer rotates round and touches the chassis after a while, I have just been rotating it back and nipping up the clamp, only done it once since fitting.
Few scratches on the bodywork, one ding on the front wing and the rear bumper trim is cracked, all from previous owner I might add!
Needs a new dip stick, top has broken off
Auxiliary belt needs replacing, I have ordered three now, all the wrong length (had a big argument with GSF after they told me it was my fault their system was wrong!)
Heater air direction valve is sticky, just needs use I think?

Here are some pictures from me thread, I will get some new ones this weekend, no change really apart from having a plain silver sony head unit fitting.

Not one reply :( Reduced because we are running out of space on the drive, really hope it goes to a good home :)

I'm surprised you have not had any interest at all. It seems like a pretty straight car, prhaps the reduced price will generate some enquiries. I think it is still difficult to price XMs with any confidence, a year ago I paid very slightly less than you are asking for my 2.1 SED, it has done a lot more miles but has a very full service history and is a higher spec model.

Good luck with the sale.

A '98 manual 2.1 is a very rare car indeed, most post '96s are auto. Pity its not an estate or I might have been interested.

Final reduction guys, I can't bring it down any further than £1k without putting it on the open market. I just know it will go to a muppet and be driven into the ground, but we don't have space to keep it, so it has to go :(
