This car does not belong to me but I have met the local retired gentleman owner a couple of times and he asked my advice about selling and I offered to put up a post. I think the big diesels are quite popular and estates obviously great load carriers although S2 cars are not my thing. The good points are a fairly low mileage, quite decent bodywork and regular servicing oil changes etc. and the bad mainly that the car needs a jolly good clean inside and out!! I know the owner has had several diesel XMs and loves the model and the reason for sale is that something a little newer is needed for regular trips to France. I am not sure what a realistic price would be but possibly something around £850? Here are a few other facts and figures:

- 70,000 genuine miles and current owner since August 2007 (50,000 miles) with three previous local owners
- No tax (disabled badge holder) and MOT until May 13th
- Only visible rust is to nearside lower door and around rear wheel arches both fairly minor
- Front strut tops rubber slightly perished
- Interior quite dirty but no obvious damage to seat upholstery etc.
- Non-standard alloy wheels fitted with oversize 205/65 tyres

Please PM me if you have any queries or would like to speak with the owner or view the car that is near North Walsham in North Norfolk. With regards, Matthew T.

Some of those pipes are routed incorrectly over the engine. Looks nice though and not too bad a price. Those alloys are horrid mind :(

I thought 205/65/15 was the correct size for a 2.5td?

:D ;) 205 65 is the correct size for 2.5 and 2.1 TD Autos. Matthew is used to 205 60 on his petrol cars

I stand corrected on the tyres, although I thought the chap said himself they were oversized. The aftermarket alloys are not to my taste either but could be easily changed! If there is no serious interest on the Forum I offered to list the car on the Bay after perhaps a week. Regards, Matthew T.

I'd check the tyre sizes as they look much larger profile than mine, would surely make for a softer ride and interesting handling...

To be honest if someone bought that for the price and spent a day or two on it it would go over £1400 IMO depending in the clutch and cambelt history/condition

Interesting, my TCT (which ironically has the same dodgy alloys - they're called TSW Stealths), is on 205/65/15s and my local tyre guy always tells me they're a real oddball size and hard to get these days.

But most of the 205 65s on ebay (and elsewhere) are MPV tyres with stiff sidewalls, noisy tread patterns and low speed ratings. It is hard to find a V rated touring tyre at a reasonable price.
