CITROEN 2.1TD XM spares injection pump Diesel 1992 Item number: 260470153070

He says it is leaking from the front bearing, does anyone know if a seal can be fitted without dismantling the pump? The bearing looks as though it has been pressed in from the outside. I have asked him if its been used on vegi oil.
I might have a go at it if no one else wants it.

Peter

I *believe* (although I haven't replaced the seal on a Bosch yet) that you can replace the seal without dismantling... Have you got the Bosch VE technical guide? If not, PM me your email address and I'll send you a copy.

Hi Peter, looking at my spare pump it looks as if it shouldn't be much of a problem to replace the seal without dissmantling, drill a couple of 1mm -2mm holes opposite each other into the face of the seal, screw in a couple of self tappers and then pull out the seal with pliers, there's quite possible a seating face behind the seal in which case the self tappers when being screwed in will push out the seal anyway if you "see" what I mean. The new seal should easily drift into place.

Running the pump on bio diesel only destroys the seals doesn't it ? shouldn't be any mechanical damage should there or doesn't bio fuel lubricate enough ?

Thanks Colin

Sounds feasable, are there any other seals its likely to effect? Not heard of mechanical damage, I would think its oily enough.

Hi Peter, I haven't actually taken mine apart yet to know but I do know of the "O" rings on either side of the pump at the bottom for the timing advance mechanism cover plates and there are also two small diameter ones that go onto the max fueling screw. Obviously these are easy to replace with the pump off the car.

Best wishes Colin.P
