1997 XM S2 ES9 V6 Has Found new Home!

For reasons discussed elseware on this forum, my XM is actively seeking a new home.

She's a 1997 sliver ES9 V6 so one of the early ones. Everything works including cruise and the aircon. The LH display has a few pixels missing. Overall I'd describe her as not at all bad and worth a bit of TLC to make her really lovely again. There are no significant faults anywhere and no show-stoppers.

Engine and transmission are both very, very sound although the rad is perhaps past its first flush of youth although still fully serviceable. There is evidence of a replacement gearbox in the past. She's covered 145,00 miles.

Her exhaust is a bit poorly in the Y joint area but sound in all other areas so could be repaired. It already has been once with success but there is another small hole currently covered with a patch.

The car is presently patiently waiting for her newly refurbished strut tops to return from holiday in Lithuania.

She's fully house trained and drops no LHM or any other automotive fluid for that matter.

Suspension is fine in all areas.

Bodywork is OK but not immaculate. It's all straight bar a small dink on the extreme edge of the tailgate. The whole thing could do with Vince's magic.

There's a bit of welding needed for the next MOT on the front drivers floorpan/sill. It was an MOT advisory last time.

Her headlights are a bit yellow but I have a decent spare set.

Wheels and tyres are both good. Tyres (BFG's) were new about a year and 4,00 miles ago.

MOT'd until January 2015. Tax disc until Jan 2015 but car itself is SORN.

Interior is good but shows some signs of use. Nothing a good Vince couldn't sort.

She's currently in storage between Bedford and St. Neots. Viewings can be arranged by appointment but test drives are out of the question until strut tops are refitted.

This car has always been 100% reliable and mainly used for long trips.

Price is very much open to negotiation and much haggling. May we start the process at £850. I think she's worth that.

Any further questions, just ask.

Thanks!

I should perhaps add this car has NO sunroof. I believe this is advantageous...

I think that's a very fair starting price for a car that is known to all.

Good luck with it Jim.

It could be Vince. It's MOT'd ;) No worries there...

The strut tops have reached their destination so should be back with me fairly soon. I'll advise as soon as they are refitted and the car will then be available for viewing and test drives along a private road...

I've fitted the new strut tops today and therefore she's now available to view by appointment and drive away by a new purchaser.

She's not here but near St Neots in storage - hence the need of a appointment to view. The location includes a decent private road for test purposes.

Currently she's SORN and if bought before the end of this month the remaining tax (until Jan 15) can be negotiated. After that I'm cashing it in.

Thanks!

Thanks for the offer Jim but if i turned up with another xm id have to fork out on a divorce i reckon

Seriously though, a solid v6 for that money is incredible for someone who has the space for one....If i was on my own hands down id own it ;)

To be honest Vince, the interest shown so far has been lukewarm at best.

At this rate I can see me scrapping it and selling just the new strut tops :(

I'll be cashing in the tax shortly and then offering it on the 'bay.

If no takers at the end of that then it's off to the great car park in the sky...
