NOW SOLD!

Hi folks,

It's finally time to say goodbye to my lovely W reg 3 litre 24 valve magenta red XM after a lot of fun driving her, including a visit to the CCC rally in Wetherby a couple of years ago.

I have driven this car for around 50,000 miles using it for daily commuting to work with very few problems. It drove and handled very well until developing a front end suspension fault, and even with this it was usable unless roads were very rough or cobbled. With help from some very good friends (thanks XM Central!) it was repaired when a rear end hydraulic pipe went and put back on the road in May, but the front leak started around 20th August and it's been off the road since. I really don’t want to scrap it, but don’t have the time, knowledge or equipment to fix it myself. It would be nice for someone wants a car as a bit of a project to have some fun with, and I only want it's scrap value - currently about £175. The attached pictures were taken a couple of years ago, but apart from the missing passenger side scuttle cover, not much has changed.

Good Points;
Lovely plumage! - Magenta red with black leather interior and heated seats.
Taxed to end of October 2014, MOT until May 2015.
Paintwork looks in quite good condition, however there is a missing front scuttle cover. I have a possible spare which is a close but not exact colour match. The original is in pieces on the motorway somewhere between Perth & Kinross.
Fully functional dot matrix display!
Stainless steel exhaust from catalytic converter to tail pipe.
Re-cored radiator.
Alloy wheels with good tyres.
Citroen radio and 6 CD changer.

Bad Points:
Intermittent problem with front suspension – locks very hard at random for a while then sorts itself out.
Leaking front hydraulic pipe.
One rear seat heater not working.
Speedometer occasionally stops working for a short while.
Back recliner on front passenger seat not working.
Battery now flat but car starts with jump leads and engine running well.
Brake discs likely to be a bit corroded due to standing for a few weeks – we live near the coast.
Front passenger window not working (probably broken cable due to location)

If interested please get pm me.

She's already spoken for I'm afraid. Amazed there has been so much interest! Glad she's going to someone who will keep her on the road.

Hi Mark, happy to put this on the Facebook page, but she is sold now, so there may not be much point?

Thanks to everyone who contacted me, I'm so pleased she has a new home and will be kept on the road rather than being broken for spares.

The car is now sitting on my driveway just west of Glasgow. A friend of mine and I picked the car up this evening and drove home with it.

Will get it on the ramp and get a proper look under it either tomorrow or the weekend and see what's what.

David.

Well done David and I hope you manage to get her repaired and back on the road! With regards, Matthew T.
