A good friend has recently bought thisXM Prestige from eBay. It needs a bit of work to get it through the MOT but he is pleased. He's a die hard Citroen fan but it's his first XM. He's not really a forum posting person (YET!).

It's a 2ltr, not sure if its a TCT. He will need a NS strut top as his is looking really rather sad. Does anyone have one?

I've mentioned about Kingas, he'd rather look in to replacing first.

what he has is one of the very few (maybe 3 or 4) 2.0i Prestige auto's left in the country, its an nasp engine 8v, a MK1.5, i dont have a spare srut top, at this age i would look at getting it re built.
Do you know the name of the supply dealer from new?

I'm not sure of the supplying dealer. I'll find out when I next speak to him.

I have a couple of NS 'waisted' type strut tops in good order and going spare if you want to send me a pm with your friends details. Are there any other bits needed?

That strut top might not be as bad as it looks. The upper rubber covering is almost irrelevant ad often look poor. The metal looks rusty, but might still be structurally ok.

It is wise to carefully examine the rubber underside of the strut head before reusing.
This is best done off the car if possible.

I agree with John that it is much better to check the strut top off the car by twisting the rubber. Regards, Matthew T.

Definitely so. Be alert to less sharp steering and the hight above the spheres starting to differ.
