Dear All

I've decided to sell my 2.5. Have just listed it on eBay and advertised it locally.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-XM-2- ... 2a4aa89030" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

After about 12 years of driving them, I suspect this will be the last 2.5 for me. Think I've had about six of them in all, and three were black exclusives. Very good cars but I need to trim the car collection a bit. I've got a bunch of 2.5 spares which I'll list and post here at some point before the end of January in case anyone wants anything.

We will be keeping the S2 24V. And I must admit I'm happier (and my backache is happier) with the CX, so it will get used a bit more which will do it good. Here's to the oil price dropping further!

Cheers

Marc

The CX seats being better is interesting. My first XM was a Godsend after a Volvo 440GLT.

I don't find the XM seats as comfortable as the ones in the BX 16 Valve. Interesting about the Volvo 440 GLT, I had a number of 440's in succession some years ago and found them the most comfortable of any car, then and now.

A GLT has harder suspension and I had a rather badly ruptured disk.

I drove a 440 a few years ago and was really impressed by how good it was to drive, it was quite a late car, a Si I think it was.

Xm seats have no lumbar lower back support, series 1 CX seats are too soft and un supportive. I don't have much experience of series 2 CX seats though.

I think it's a big function of a persons height and backache problem. There's an awkward 3 hour journey cross country I do pretty often, sometimes twice in one day there and back. If I do that in the XM, I'm aching towards the end of the journey and the next day I'm well below par. If I do it in the CX I've found I'm usually ok on the day and fine the next day. The CX seats are softer, the driving position is lower and somehow more relaxed, there's more headroom, and you don't have to attend to the steering wheel as much because the Diravi keeps things straight. But apart from that I guess there's no more than a few cm difference in the relevant dimensions in seat position. A lot of it is being too tall and getting older!

I do find the CX sears much better at lumbar support than the XM seats - the XM seats are comfortable but the tendency to set the seat height by tilting the seat base up att he front and down at the back puts incredible strain on the lower back as it then has to support the weight of the legs when moved - according to my physiotherapist mum anyway !

I dont as a rule get lower back issues but the XM does seem to give them to me as the BX did befote
