Where are these nice cars coming from!!
I think he will regret his BX purchase! I certainly wouldn't rate a BX over a XM.

What do u guys think of that car??
Engine-wise? Andrew-andmcit has always said the 8v 2lt is strong enough to be decent. Will this surely be a multipoint injection, or have monopoints been also imported into the UK?
What do they consume at 70mph, like, 30mpg or better?
I see it's a poverty spec, but don't really mind...
Thinking about it! (initially with an interest to try it out for a few months, and keep it if I like it -which I think I will-!)
Thanks for any opinions!
George

Hi George
They were all multi point or carb, this one will be the bosch multipoint so dispite having a 'cat' it is the most powerfull 2.0 engine, mine is auto but i get 21 to 23mpg around town and have had up to 39mpg at 70mph ish on the motorway, expect that to drop if you are doing 80 to 90+mph.
Its a 1.5 too so for some strange reason the body should be good, parts are cheap and easy to source and they are easy to work on too.

Hi George,
I have a manual 2.0 8V N/A, and thankfully with no Cat. I think its a good setup. Performance is good, these engines like the revs, economy is good as well, I got 35mpg from mine at 75ish on the way down to the CX rally, although it would have been better if the traffic was steady. 2 years ago I took it to Poland on holiday, and it did 33mpg, driving at 85 all day across Germany, so I couldn't complain about that, got 45mpg by driving at 60mph on a very long trip too.
There is loads of room in the engine bay, so genreal servicing is a doddle, loads of room to take the oil filter and accumulator off.

Decision made then George? Shame it's got a cat mind as this does make a difference to the performance and economy of the 2.0i.
Nice looking car and these are a vastly underrated Xm. Easiest head gasket to change too and the timing belt is a doddle.

Hi all,
Thanks for ur comments, yes, looks like it's one for me!
Agree that the 2lt 8v are just underrated. For the use I want it -cruise 300miles/week at 60-80mph- it looks just perfect.
Was wondering, will this one still have a climate control (not aircon'd of course)?
Talking with the seller at the moment and asking various details.
Have to think of what it's worth for me.
Cheers
George

Hi George
It should have the non digital climate control and you can see in the engine bay shots there is no A/C but there is a bit of a fuel feed bodge, nothing of importance though.
Everyone goes on about the 2.1 but to be honest as an all round car taking into account running costs, reliability and engine bay layout i would say its the one to have, ok we all want a 24v and the 2.0 isnt going to set your trousers alight but it really is an underated powerplant.
Hope you get it
