Definitely a healthy mileage.
I thought I was in XM heaven for a second, there...a white XM with no sunroof...gorgeous.

May be on the market for a while. On the other hand, they do look good in white and the lack of sunroof is a plus.

Hi all
I'm new to this forum, but no stranger to XM's having owned 2 in the past. I am the proud owner of this vehicle - that is I will be when I collect it at the end of May. I know I know, its high mileage and overpriced but hey what can I tell you, I love these cars and just wanted another. I was impressed with how clean and tidy it looked, along with the mountain of service records, so I talked to the guy and told him I wanted it. I'm having some servicing carried out before I collect, namely the cam belt, engine oil and filter change, thermostat, water pump, and gearbox oil. Can anybody suggest anything else ???
I've got to say I'm really looking forward to driving it back from Blackburn to its new home in Essex, they have to be the most comfortable cruising machines going.
Well, I'm not sure if this is something Ill live to regret, we'll see, but glad I took a chance.

Hello
iv bought and sold many 16v xm cars and estates over the years.
I can honestly say if driven quietly back home you should see over 40 mpg.
I had a friend with me and drove one to the m25 from Accrington and we acheived over 50 mpg at 73 mph.Would not have believed it on my own but i had a passenger to witness this.Do not worry about mileage.I bought a number of xm td cars 3 years old and the had all covered over 350000 miles.Yes over 350000 miles.Great cars they wear the mileage very well indeed.
If you need help with this car i am 5 miles from where it is.
regards Malcolm from savoy

Hi Malcolm,
Thank you very much for your message - those mpg figures are really impressive and quite took me by suprize. Being only 5 miles away, did you ever come across this car ?? As I mentioned above, the car comes with a ton of service paperwork which is reassuring, and looked spotless. Well, I feel much more confident after reading what you said, makes me think the chance I took wasn't quite as reckless as I first thought. I love these cars, way ahead of their time in my opinion, and this one is certainly going to a good home where it will be well looked after. The end of May seems a long way away !!
Regards and thanks Pete

Its going to be like waiting for Christmas, the day will come though!
My 8v auto has achieved 40mpg on a run at 65 70ish (22 around town} wisays. boot full and two passengers, the 16v is better still as Malcolm says.
I wouldn't call your purchase wreckless at all.

I'm guessing as they become rarer good ones no matter what mileage are worth the money as you can see pampered ones, good ones and the runner ones all have their issues by condition speaks volumes to most looking for one these days
