Wanted: Clutch kit for 2.5TD

Hi folks,

Anyone got a genuine Valeo (or better?) quality clutch kit for the 2.5, or know where one can be obtained for sensible money in the UK?

Can see some on ebay, but all foreign sellers, so long wait times for delivery, and the daily driver vehicle in question is rapidly approaching the driveway ornament stage. :|

Cheers,

Miah

The genuine Valeo kit is excellent quality.
Not worth buying anything cheap, bearing in mind all the work to fit it, and the torque it has to handle.

Both suggestions above are 235mm low torque clutches for 2.5 DJ van engines.
One of them specifies a ME gearbox.
The 2.5 TD uses a high torque 242mm hydraulic clutch in a MG gearbox.
The two versions of the V6 manual clutch for Mk2 XM's are also 242mm and hydraulic though no RHD XM cars were ordered for the UK.
The first V6 version used the same MG box as the 2.5TD XM mated to a PRV engine so clutch cover, plate and thrust bearings all fit a 2.5TD XM.
The clutch plate has slightly different springs and friction material to the 2.5 ones, works fine but not yet worn one out to know if life is as good.
The second V6 version used the later ML box mated to the ES9J engine with clutch cover and plate the same as above but a different shorter thrust bearing.
The reason for listing the above V6 clutches is that both types were used in V6 manual RHD Peugeots.
The Valeo clutch kits (both types) turn up occasionally as NOS on ebay from Peugeot dealers.
I won a later type one last week so needed to replace the short thrust bearing with a long one.
The 2.5 long thrust bearings are currently on offer on ebay for £25 from eastern Europe (4 days).
The genuine Valeo 2.5 clutch kit can still be bought but is a bit over £200.
A dealer in northern France was offering compatible kits for just over £100.
No one as far as I am aware has tried one.

That's what I thought; 200 quid seems fair enough for it, but finding someone that'll sell me one and get it here for next week, that's as difficult as finding a working left hand display.. ;)

Didn't look fully but they were just quick ones on the bay :) pug 605's had the same engine didn't they?

Also for some reason I have Granada 2.5td rattling around in my head but not sure on that one but another possible part source...

Valeo have dealers and stockists all over the UK.
Google their site (Valeo UK) to locate a stockist near you.
There is a web catalogue on-line, so you can check out the Clutch Kit part number.

They are now nfp.

One dealer worldwide still has one in stock and I'm waiting to see what price they will do for it shipped.

This is for the full kit btw but you could try getting the clutch and bearing on their own and maybe the plate but don't think you'll have much chance as the plate has been nfp for even longer from what I can find :(

There must be aftermarket kits available. Citroen don't make clutches.
