Wanted: Si wing badges

Just a cheeky ask on the basis that someone may have a pair in a plastic bag on a shelf.

The badges on my baby are looking their age (aren't we all) with little of their original 'chrome' facing left.

I was just wondering if anyone has a NOS pair sat around doing not a lot?

Good, honest coin of the realm offered in exchange for suitable items.

Alternatively suggestions about refacing the 'chrome' whilst leaving the sides black.

I need to reface mine Rob. Either use brushed aluminium stick on vinyl or a very light paint coat painted from a pad not a brush.

I tried various methods of refurbishment Rob and in the end found the application of chrome silver paint with a kitchen sponge worked best. It is also crucial to spray afterwards with clear lacquer otherwise the paint will quickly wear off! If the job is to be done properly you need to remove the badges so have some strong double-sided tape ready and also remember to mark the positions beforehand. Regards, Matthew T.

Thanks guys.

I am doing a full respray on the car so all the badging and trim will be coming off.

The front end is off already with the wings coming off tomorrow to repair the rust damage to the number mounts on the N/S and a the accident damaged mount on the O/S!

See my post in bodywork for other advice needed!

Maybe it's an age thing but the badges on mine are black.

I use a small household paint roller.

She is an early car (not as early as yours!!!) and has a few 'quirky' bits that I am keen to preserve.

Been searching the chrome paint issue. Lots on conflicting advice re applications and lacquer.

They should have brushed aluminium looking surface to the letters, with black sides.

I thought I might have pics of the way I did mine, but can't find them.

My method....Stiff bit of cardboard. Blob of bluetack on the back as a handle. Then a layer of high density neoprene foam stuck on the card. Get it in sheets from an artshop. Then chrome model paint on the foam. Remove excess. Press lightly against the badge and it should only cover the surface and leave the sides black. Clean up with a bit of white spirt if needed. Clear laquer over the top. Works a treat and it lasts.

I'll get some pics of mine if you want to see Rob.

Very nice Russ but such a pity we did not get the metal badges used elsewhere! Regards, Matthew T.
