Low mileage diesels of any marque will always command a premium. The only way we'll know if values are rising is if a constant stream of cars that are not at the desirable end of the spectrum show an increase in demand and therefore an increase in price.
The sale price of the early car just sold will be more interesting. Not in top condition, needing plenty of work and not low mileage but still attracting a good price would suggest that demand is greater than supply and values will rise.

Agreed. That particular car appears to have sold twice, readilly. That just wouldn't have happened a few years ago.
Interest in XM's, especially series 1, appears to have increased.

The law of supply and demand is what always governs price.

The simple fact that S1 cars are the oldest means there aren't as many around and therefore values should be firmer. Be interesting to see what happens over the next few years.

Values are on the rise and have been the last couple of years, when i first joined the .com forum i remember there was an ebay advert for a pair of white MK1 V6's one had a duff engine, the other a duff gearbox, the pair was listed for £50 and didnt sell, twice. That wouldnt happen today, XM's regularly went for a couple of hundred £ now hardly anything goes for less than £500.
Remember the low miles 2.0sei (si?) in silver on ebay a few months back, it went for around £2500 and the new owner was very happy to pay that, wasnt advertised long either.
How many XM are for sale now?
