Hi guys,

Well, it is with a heavy heart that I have to let go of my newly acquired XM 2.0 Prestige Auto. I originally wanted Series 1 diesel auto, and, Murphy's law, my mate decided to sell his L-plate 2.1 SD Auto. So, here we go.

This car was owned by Brad Bennett since 1996. After the original buyer pulled out, I snapped it up. It truly is a lovely car. Exceptional condition for the age and mileage (170 000). Rock solid with NO rust. Since I've bought it, I have had the timing belt replaced, had a new started fitted (the old one sounded a bit sick) and gave it an oil change. The gearbox felt a bit jerky, but gave it an oil change and cleaned the filter - result is a silky smooth change. Good BF Goodrich tyres with about 6mm tread left.

Unmarked black leather interior, all electrics work including the sunroof and electric windows. Original XM rubber mats.

The car will also come with an assortment of spares that I got from Brad. Also, there are original brochures and a history file.

I drove this car up to Chester the week before last and down to Southampton last weekend, did about 1 000 miles in it. I have no complaints. I just want to recoup what I've spent on it so looking for £2 300.00 or nearest offer.

I am based in Newport, Wales, and will be willing to meet someone halfway is they are really interested.

Below are some photos from the original ebay ad, I will take some fresh photos tomorrow morning.

Cheers,
Will

Wow, didn't expect this!

I did wonder what happened with this car, as Brad says the buyer was flying in from Ireland, yet you're in Newport - that sale fell through, it now makes sense, although I was looking forward to spotting the car over here and wondering if it was someone we knew!

Sorry you're having to part with it Will. If I had the money I'd take your arm of. I do believe its worth that £2300 and a bit more besides to be honest, you shouldn't have any trouble shifting such a nice example.

Good luck with the sale.

Ciarán

Thanks Ciarán!

Feel quite bad having to send it on - have bonded with the car - but the heart wants what the heart wants...

Forgot to add - MOT expires in March 2017.

Does that mean that the guy from Ireland refused it in the first place? I'd be concerned that the car is for sale so quickly after a sale. And further concerned that someone flew over and didn't take it. Maybe I have my facts wrong but I'm only going on the information from the forum.

Not sure what the reason was for the original buyer pulling out of the sale, but you are more than welcome to have a good look for yourself. The only reason I have to let this one go is to make space for the diesel XM I originally wanted.

If you wish, I could meet you at the Fishguard ferry terminal Irish XM?

As I said I've done over 1 000 miles in the car with the only issue being starter not wanting to turn. Replaced the started so now 100%. Oh and the ABS light comes on every now and then but it seems to sort itself after a couple of miles.

Haha, thanks Citroen XM - actually contemplating selling the '67. I have a couple of DS's still in South Africa (I bought them before the prices went mad) which I will ship over at the end on the year. I do love my Citroen's- there is nothing quite like them!

Just out of interest - the trip I did to Chester in my XM was to go look at John's XM for a friend of mine. He ended up buying that and that is why he is selling his diesel XM to me. The XM circle of life :)
