Wanted - First XM

I've been silently following this forum for the last few months whilst on the lookout for my first XM. I've always had a thing for them eversince a family friend took me out in his mk1 3.0V6 exclusive back in the 90s. The ride was sublime!
Unfortunately I've been let down a few times recently by sellers who, for some reason have at the last minute decided not to sell or simply dropped all communication the day before I was due to purchase - very strange.
Anyway, I'm after a well cared for XM, doesn't have to be mint but a good working example that doesn't need too much. Ideally an exclusive, or something special (like Brad's Prestige)
Hopefully by signing up i'll be closer to obtaing the right car :)

I'm willing to pay over the odds price for the right car - cash is waiting and has been for some time.
A carpeted, heated garage awaits!

Andy

The Exclusive trim is only on Series 2 cars in the UK, but keep looking and decent XM do turn up.

Are you bothered about which engine and gearbox the car has and are there any trim levels you won't accept.

Thanks for the replies chaps.
I'm not too bothered about engine/gearbox combos. Of course, the ultimate would be a 3.0 in exclusive trim but understand this is the holy grail of the XM world.
Regarding trim level, the higher the better but i'm willing to compromise this for the right car. Ideally wanting leather interior with the digital climate control.
The car wouldn't be a daily driver, more of a modern classic to run on weekends and special occasions.
Appreciate the help
Andy

Up to 1994 you want and SEI or SED.. the best ones from 1993 as cruise was added to the autos. . And from 1994 exclusive give or take cross over of uk sales...
Sed never got cruise incidentally.. only sei spec.

thanks citroenxm for the headsup on specs. SEI of SED it is then, i always thought my old friends XM was an exclusive as it was such high spec, but further research shows it must have been a 3.0 SEI.
I'll keep a look out for a S1 SEI or SED :)

EXCLUSIVE branding was used for Trim Level 4 French XM cars for the 1991 Model year Mk1.
Only the V6-24 EXCLUSIVE was available with the top Trim Level.
AMBIANCE for Trim Level 3.
HARMONIE for Trim Level 2.
SEDUCTION for Trim Level 1.

The UK variants:
i & D were Trim Level 2.
Si & SD were Trim Level 3.
SEi & SED were Trim Level 3+.
V6 SEi were Trim Level 4.

Source XM 0 No. 9 dated 28 Feb 1991 page 8.

Initially the "V6 24v Manual" was a spec of its own over Se where it was colour coded from the off and Se wasnt untill 92..
