I thought I would just assess interest on the Forum before advertising more widely as I need to find a home for this car. The XM was in my ownership for around five years up until about 2014 and was then sold to a local enthusiast with whom I kept in touch. I am sorry to report that the gentleman has recently and unexpectedly passed away and I have taken the car back hoping to find a new owner who will give the necessary attention!

In my opinion the 2.0i turbo engine and auto box is a very nice combination and being a top-spec model and late S1 this model has everything. The general condition is good and especially the bodywork and interior, with no visible rust, only minor welding on the front offside? sill, and recent paintwork to tidy up the bumpers. There are currently 141,000 mile showing and the engine starts and runs smoothly and the gearbox is extremely slick.

The main problem is quite a significant external leak of coolant from the vicinity of the water pump that I suspect is a split lower radiator hose as I had this problem on another car and replacement is not a major problem. There have been two recent replacement tyres and although the condition appears fair all are of different age and brand. I have noticed there is a small crack in the front windscreen on the upper left (passenger) side corner.

Other good points are that the front strut tops were replaced with re-manufactured units in 2014 and all six suspension spheres and the LHM changed earlier this year (all by me). The exhaust system has also recently been replaced and the engine cambelt and other external belts were renewed at 126,500. Although the tax expires this month there is nearly 12 months MOT.

Please let me know if any other information is required and many thanks for your attention. I am located in Aylsham, Norfolk, 12miles north of Norwich.

With regards, Matthew T.

PS. For the present I attach photographs from my earlier sale advertisment and the appearance is not that much changed.

I know you are not a big fan of the tct Paul but thanks for your other comments! The engine is almost as powerful as the V6 12v and the kick-down works very nicely with the turbo, plus slightly better economy. At 141K the mileage is also still quite modest. I am under some pressure to sell the car due to lack of storage and the expiring tax so I shall probably list later this evening on C & C. With regards, Matthew T.

Wow - such a lovely looking car. I'm sure it'll find a home soon enough.

Thanks again for your interest chaps and I can now confirm that the car has been sold to Andy (ezeepzee), from Nottingham, who I am sure will give it a good home. I managed to establish that the water leak was actually from the pump rather than the adjacent hose that if anything is a slightly easier fix. I understand Andy plans to do some fettling and hopefully we shall meet again at a CCC event later in the year. With regards, Matthew T.
