Hi,

I have a citroen xm estate which I was hoping to bring back into the world of the living, but have been advised not to go there by a trusted professional.

So I have decided to break for spare, and would like to hear from needy parties who have bit and pieces they require.

Its currently based in West Midlands, but may soon go north (not under its own power) to Cheshire

The bads:
brakes
engine
gearbox
turbo
advised the undercarriage is going soft in places, which was a deal clincher really.

the goods:
Interior is in very good condition.
Cherished number plate
Brand new unfitted gearbox
Various internal electrics (door locks and window regulators already bagged I think)
Body work unblemished
External lights undamaged.
It has a factory fitted sunroof which is in really surprisingly good nick.

Contact me through here, and I will do my best to reply regularly and speedily.
Bests,

Iain

I have a similar car with excellent mechanicals (lots of history and money spent) but rotten body, which could be made available if anyone fancies making a good one from the two.
Unless, of course "soft undercarriage" is a euphemism for rot. Rodders.

Hello, what colour are both cars? Also what year? There are lots of bits we could be interested in. Especially if located in Cheshire

I'm after a silver (front) passenger door! Cheers!

So yes it would be good to know the colours of both cars.

Hi Ray,

I was wondering if we would get in touch, my friend Richie has a green 2.1TD Exclusive - you may have heard from him.

Yes soft body means there is welding due, it's coming to Hartley's Village... its red.

I am uncertain what to put as a price on the gearbox. It is new, not fitted before. I have had £1000 suggested to me.

Either way as it arrives with vehicle its probably worth taking a look at the whole package, I trust the mechanic that it would be a money pit to restore the whole vehicle, he has been around citroens a lot and knows their moods, but then he isn't necessarily a Citröen addict (most mechanics, even Citröen specialists, aren't as you probably all know).

There are very few cars of any make that are worth restoring from a purely economical point of view. I doubt if there would be an XM left anywhere if that was the sole criteria. I'd be scrapping my pair for starters and even my very rare, 1949 Renault is going to cost me more to restore than it will be worth when complete, (probably).

You either have a passion for a particular make/model or, if you are lucky, you don't, and simply view any car as a means of transport. (The money I could have saved over the years if I'd been one of the latter!)

Unfortunately, I'm not, and it always saddens me when an example of an increasingly rare car gets scrapped. If I was to win the Euro millions jackpot I'd save them all!

I've no idea how bad this particular eastate is but I hope that someone with a bit more passion gives a second opinion before it is pulled apart for spares.

LG.

In your position I would probably put your silver S2 up as an organ donor and treat myself to a nice, white S1.

You already have an interested party for a silver door.
